I think we were in the war, since Dec 1941 after Pearl Harbor. Silver wasn't used much in munitions so minting with it was easy, and it probably made the government extra money for the war effort. I'm glad I wasn't involved in that war, it was nasty. Iraq and Afghanistan were minor dustups in comparison!

        I couldn't remember when we actually got in. The only dates I remember are like 41 to 45, but I don't know if that was just our involvement or the span of the whole war.

              It was an ugly time in the world, hopefully a third round doesn't come around in our lifetimes. It will happen though, I think that's inevitable.
