The Power and Beauty in the Sunrise

Let there be Light

I have said it before and I have no doubt that I will say it again too, I love light. The light that we get from the sun is essentially our lifeblood and without it, there is absolutely no doubt but everyone and mostly everything on this planet would perish. Is it any wonder why so many of our ancestors that went before us saw the sun and moon and other celestial objects as deities?

I can see why they gave thanks to the sun for harvests and good fortune and why they looked upon it with wonder and awe and appreciation. There is nothing quite like the warm sun upon ones face and here in Ireland in the Winter months, our wonderful sun often hibernates on high behind a curtain of low grey clouds. In some ways the Winter sun, when she appears is even more magnificent and appreciated than the expected Summer sun.

The morning sun

For me our glorious is sun is at it's most beautiful in the early morning just before sunset or in the late evening just before sunset. It is the beautiful colours that make it extra special and the cloud formations that take on this glorious hue as well at this time of the day. It varies with the seasons in terms of colours I find, and this beautiful scene awaited me this morning as I had breakfast.

I decided to do something that I thought about before, but never did, I took of my shoes and socks outside and walked on the lush green grass and I must say that I felt a great connection with the world, the sun and nature around me. Try it some morning, especially if the grass is a bit wet with dew or rain - it is a great way to ground oneself and to start the day on a nice relaxed note.

Here are a few photos that don't quite capture the view and the feeling, but it does give you a glimpse in the window of my awakening that morning.

Conclusion

So, when I awoke the other day and was greeted by this vista, it made my eyes smile and I went outside to soak some of it in and played with the dog for a while before it was time to make school lunches for my children and start my work day.

Do you know something too actually, it was one of my most productive work days in a few weeks and I put that down to taking a few minutes in my bear feet in the garden at the start of the day, which got things off to the best possible start.

So, what I will leave you with are a few more quotes about light and nature and some genuine advise - Slow down. Smell the coffee. Listen to a friend. Actually Listen. Don't critique. Don't advise. Just listen.

And just be a good human. It's simple really. The marketers and big corporations don't want us to see that though. They want us to feel that we need to buy these feelings and emotions with more and more material goods. For the most part you don't need them and happiness, contentment and goodness is right on front of you, you just need to open up your awareness to it.

“Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.” — Maya Angelou

“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” — Brené Brown

“Light must come from inside. You cannot ask the darkness to leave; you must turn on the light.” — Sogyal Rinpoche

Yay they are some very happy feet I would imagine, nothing better than grounding yourself on the wet grass in the morning. It is the best way to start the day. So happy to hear you doing this. It really does make such a difference xxx

Yes and it is you that I learned it from through one of your posts, so thank you for that. Hope all is well with you and the girls and the roots are taking hold for your some to come mushroom empire ;)

Wow! what beautiful sunrise photos. I so agree, I too love the sunshine, it fills us with so much energy. And walking barefoot in the grass wet from the morning dew is a great way to start the day :)

Thanks a million for the kind words my friend

wow what incredible images my brother, that sunset is magnificent, you can appreciate the work you did to make these photos so great, I like that shade of colors that gives the sky I send you a big hug.

Thanks a million for dropping by and commenting, ya the sunrise was beautiful

Bro it's ok because you didn't know, but I've just copyrighted the sun, so you can't really post about sunrises anymore, as beautiful as it is. Beautiful pics by the way!

But well, it's mine now, cause I own the sun.

you're welcome 😄

Oh thanks "professor", that reminds me of those guys that stopped smoking and then telling the benefits to smokers...Not everyone can wake up that early, it's just impossible!

I am fucking with ya ahaha, I love this post by the way! Yeah man, that's my ritual, saying hi to the sun early, watching the first rays, for some reasons I feel that the first rays have a better impact on the world, I know it's in my head, but I am sure there's 20% chance that there is a benefit.

I know morning sun is better for plants, so I am sure it applies to us, fleshy plants...

"I've just copyrighted the sun" 😄😄😄😄😄

Your royalties are on the way kid!

Interesting about the early morning sun being better for plants and people. I wonder why that is?

So apparently, at least for plants, it's because morning sun still have all the UV benefits without the harder afternoon heat of the sun that can sometimes damage the plant. In theory, of course...
