in Reflections4 days ago

This will be a weekly Sunday hangout between friends, where everyone else is also invited to join in on the conversations. A Sunday party for Hive users to interact and just talk crap about whatever happens to be going on at the time. It might be Hive related, it might be current events, sports, or it might be something else entirely. But whatever it is, it will be in the interest of having fun and evoking laughter, piss-taking, teasing and hopefully, a lot of enjoyment for those involved.

Core collaborators:

@meesterboom@slobberchops@galenkp@azircon@revisesociology@abh12345@tarazkp

These people will comment (if available) and lead some of the discussions.

Are you enjoying or hating the heat in central Europe?

(Finland hasn't seen any heat yet)

I was going to ask if we had all survived it!

Not in central Europe, but feel for them. We are getting ready for our own heat wave this week.

A lot of Europe isn't airconditioned, because it wasn't needed earlier. If it was 40C here, we would bake.

It seems most of Europe is getting more heat waves each year. Got a feeling you are going to start seeing more ACs. But then you have to start asking if the electric grid can handle that.

Those split unit jobs are pretty amazing these days. It makes it a lot more accessible for people who wouldn't normally have it. My mom and dad have one and it covers their whole house with strategically placed fans.

I have heard in news that more then of 200 Europeans died because of heat wave, is it true?

Technical? No, some awful muck like doner kebab.

:D

A decent Gyro is far better than a doner kebab

Feels like August, but I'm used to summer

30+ is way too much heat for me. I am willing to sell maybe 8 to 10 degrees.

Absolutely I would not. I wonder how those who have gone for holiday there handle with heat now as they need to visit tourist attractions.

We have temps in the 110 range for three or four days coming this week. I am not looking forward to it.

If you were forced to eat one type of food only for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Maybe an authentic gyro from a nice hole in the all mom & pop.

I do like a gyro!

Best food ever. Well, one of them!

I am quite fond of em! Perfect on the go stuff!

Indeed. I've made a mess of many a t-shirt when eating them. Lol.

Mouth is watering thinking about it.

It will make my breakfast seem poor!!

Indeed!

What's for dinner?? :D

I don't know but it ain't gyros..fuck!

:D

Still hungover from Metallica?

I had to google gyro!:)

Thats okay, not sure I even pronounce it correctly.

I think it is pronounced "Yiross" But I have no idea :D

Did you get something technical?

That sounds pretty good!! Probably has all you need in it too.

I would say it is close.

Fark yeah!

gyros are so money, but every day for the rest of your life?

hell yeah.

Curry, I could eat it till the cows come home. The spicier the better!!

I'd smash a curry with ya.

That would be a fine meal! Good chat, laughs and a curry. Yeeehaaa!!

One for the ages I reckon.

A gentlemanly feast!!

For sure...we'll let the girls come, but only if they don't tell us off for being to rowdy and embarrassing.

They would be all chuffed to see the merry banter, guaranteed!!

I've never had proper curry.

No ways man! If you can't buy one make one, they are awesome!

Is there a huge difference between Thai curry and Indian curry? We used to have a really good Thai restaurant in town, but they closed down during COVID.

Yeah, Thais are often based on coconut milk and although sponge Indian ones include it mostly they are more cumin/coriander based and dark brown, gravy ish curries. I live em but I do love a Thai red curry as well!

Interesting!

I always find it funny how Europeans have started eating such spicy food. I am guessing you didn't grow up on it.

Yeah, I didn't really try anything too spicy till my early teens but once I did I was hooked!

It is addictive.

It is, I used to always want hotter and hotter but as I regretfully get a bit older I am happy now to settle about the scotch bonnet/habanero/birds eye chilli level of heat with no mouth gymnastics required. 🤣🤣

Europeans eat Spicy? here in Lahore, Pakistan every second person prefer to eat spices 🥵...

Yesterday the fries person tried to kill me with heart attack amount of spies lol

Hahaha !LOLZ

On fries??

They use a mix of spices including ginger, garlic, and dry red chillies among other spicies on the fries.

Yes masala french fries 🍟
Masala = spice

Some weird powered spice he dropped. I asked for masala fries but not a heart attack amount lol

Many Euro eat spicier than I can eat :D

Not more then a normal Lahore resident can eat !LOLZ

Don't be so sure.

I have read, too, that many Europeans didn’t grow up with chili heat, yet now spicy food is trendy, almost a badge of adventurous eating. Wow!
Meanwhile, me, I super like spicy foods since childhood! 😅

Europeans are corrupted by Asians with chillies and spicy food.🙂

Though, I am an Asian I have been using too spicy food only since last two years when my taste buds started giving me hard time feeling the taste to my satisfaction.

I've always heard UK food is bland. I don't know about Europe though.

I do like a good curry.

Pizza could be an idea

I rarely eat pizza. I prefer cheeseburger instead. 😀

haha everyone his own tastes

anything special, or McDonald's ?

I love pizza but I think it could get old fast!

I feel the same way. I might go with Tacos because you can put pretty much anything in them.

I do love a taco for exactly that reason!

But you can do it differently in a lot of ways!

Ha, yeah, but in the end it's a chest bit of bread! Delicious as it may be!!

like pasta, just dry wheat lol but its good!

I wonder if you'd get sick of it over and over - what toppings if you could only have one type?

Onion and tuna is a good combo

We have many customized pizza here, one of them is chicken tikka pizza, I like it but my favorite is classic cheese pizza.

tomato mozzarella is the original one, i like it

👍

can't go wrong with a margarita

Agreed

I ate a seafood pizza in Malta once. It was damn good. Wasn't sure when I first saw the tentacles on it. But it turned out to be one of the best Ive ever had.

The tentacles used to put me off also, but then... yum.

Almost the best part.

That'd have to be eggs...one of the most nutritionally complete foods available.

Just eggs?

Add toast and some of my delicious homemade basil pesto and bob's your uncle!

So I can choose sweets because I would become too fat...Maybe cabbage rolls or some bbq meat.

bbq meat sounds great!
We grilled burgers today :)

If I will be forced to eat one type of food only for the rest of my life, I would choose chicken liver. That's my second favorite food. I cannot choose pork over it because I guess chicken liver is healthier than pork.

oh no.... liver? :D

(honestly, I have never had chicken liver)

Some of vegs, I love to eat mixture of different vegs which never made me bored of eating...
Nothing else can take place of that food for me...

What do you mean type? Like nationality or something else? I'm going to need more information sir! :)

You ever eat a meal in another country that was so good you will never forget or duplicate it?

I've never been to any country, but I have dream destinations across the world. I just can't afford as of now. 😂 However, since there are imported products available in some stores here in our country, I have tried few.
If I were to indulge in one unforgettable meal, I want any European meal.

most of Europe has blah food :D

Arabic Paratha in Mecca, Saudi Arabia during early 80s. Still remember the taste.

Had to look it up. It is like Naan?

Yes, but a bit different. It is fried in oil, very little amount of oil, just to give it a golden color. This is is Paratha.

Arabic Paratha, I ate in Mecca had some minced meat, eggs, green chillies and some other vegetables in very small quantities. Eggs were the main ingredients.

Sounds like a wonderful experience for you.

No doubt, it was.

So many man.

I had a spaghetti on Bellagio (Lago Di Como) and I'd kill for another.

Baguettes in France too. Had some amazing Thai food in Thailand, waffles in Belgium, Cornish Pasties in southern UK (Cornwall)...That's just the tip of the iceberg though...so many, too fucken many to list.

Sounds jjst amazing.

For me it is mainly two. Gyros in Corfu and Seafood Pizza in Malta. It may be that it is not so much about the food, but about the place and people too. I have eaten good food in other countries. But those really stick out to me in my memory as great food, but a great time as well.

I agree, it's the whole thing, the setting, not just the food. I've not been to Corfu or Malta but have plans to do so; I'll report back on the food.

Wish I knew the locations. But they were both hole in the wall mom & pop places. Just stumbled upon them.

There have been a few - but one thing I keep telling my daughter about was a watermelon ice cream I had as a kid in Australia. Nothing has come close since.

Now that sounds special.

Still not sure about the meal, but having some fresh bread sitting in the park behind the Sagrada familia cathedral in Barcelona on my wife and I's first trip together was decent :)

That is awesome! Imagine you can still smell the bread too?

Never in a different country, but in a different city yes!

What's the retirement age in your country, and what do you plan to do after you retire?

The mandatory retirement age in our country is generally 65 years old, while the optional retirement age is 60. Tbh, I don't know what to do when I reach the retirement age. Hahaha! But if I imagine what retirement could look like for me, I’d say the best plans mix financial security, health, and purpose.

I think it is going to be around 70 for me, as it keeps going up. However, I will probably die before that.

47 comments in about a hour? not bad. these sunday funday posts makes Hive feel less like a ghost town.

I do enjoy reading here in Hive and engaging as well for topics that interest me, like this one. Sunday Funday is truly fun.

I hope so!!

Happy Sunday funday to everyone 👋 I'm just enjoying my delicious Sunday rice 😋

Do you have anything with the rice?

The rice is somehow different from the one I used to eat,😄 this one is too sweet and delicious 😋 I really enjoy it.

Wow, that's amazing! I also enjoyed my fried rice this morning. 😇

Glad u liked the humour lol

Hahaha! Wow! You indeed have a super big DATE!

Lol!

You indeed have a super big

That's what SHE said (joke)

Will your team make it through the World Cup round of 32?

If they play like they did the first 2 games.

Well, not sure if they play like they did against Australia. That game was a mess. Sure, they won... but :D

Well, yeah it wasn't pretty. But they need to win the ugly ones too.

That is true

We didn't even qualify! Go go capo verde

I always like to see the smaller, unexpected teams get far.

Me too, I'm for the underdogs, makes things fun

Im cheering for Capo Verde too. Trying to watch them when I can.

underdogs ftw

In their dreams. Has Lithuania ever achieved anything on a global/international level of football? I definitely have not heard of that.

Looking like it so far!
