The colour of Spring washes away the Winter blues

Spring is upon us

As I looked out my kitchen window, it was uplifting to see the colour return and plants poised and ready to burst back to life with a beautiful bang.

Some are just beginning to bud.

Soon they'll open up with a glorious pop of colour to herald in the much anticipated Spring time and some warmer weather and bluer skies.

These are always some of the first flowers in my garden to bloom, along with the daffodils.

They actually bloom twice a year too, which is an added bonus, giving the garden some nice colour and a nice view from the kitchen window.

It is just one small corner of our garden, but the rest has not burst into life just yet.

The daffodils are out too and Wordsworth's beautiful poem comes to mind.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

These flowers add to the colourscape too, but I can't for the life of me remember what they're called...

Any ideas folks? It's on the tip of my tongue...

And a few more pics of the wonderful perennials.

They bloom twice and always help shake the Winter blues here in Galway.

Peace Out
