Why should I be held responsible for someone else actions.?
Must I always act the big person in all situations?

Just be yourself, you do not have to always take the blows for someone else's actions except you are entitled to.
That is,
- if the person is your spouse, you have to be responsible.
- If the person is your son/daughter, you also have to be responsible.
For every other person, it's your choice make.
You don't have to be the bigger person. You have just as much right to act like a child and throw a tantrum as anyone else.
I honestly wish I can......but each time I try I am away looked as the bad one.
