Hello comrades, it is with great pleasure that I find myself in this wonderful community. It is so reassuring that we can't just depend on drugs to have a good health-wise lifestyle. What can we do without natural greens? Today if we must talk about good health, then we must talk about Fruits and Vegetables...the natural greens. I seek permission comrades to emphasise on the benefits of including fruits and vegetables to your daily meal and as well the potential health hazards in ignoring these natural greens by using this platform to remind and educate.

Here in the Colossus lagos, during our meal setting for buffet in breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner....we never fail to include these natural greens even during al a' carte( cook to order), fruits and vegetables must be present. We understand that these natural greens are essential for enhanced life. If we want to prolong our good life, let us take care of our health properly. We shall all understand the benefits of fruits and vegetables and as well the potential dangers of neglecting them.

During our breakfast session, I decided to take some shots on our prepared natural greens that would accompany main dishes during the course of meals. Hence the pictures below...

BENEFITS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES IN YOUR DIETS

  1. Fruits and vegetables fight to protect health, I call them natural greens because they are found, planted, grown and coloured naturally (green). Fruit and vegetables are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and disease-fighting petrochemicals. These constituents can help reduce the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, certain cancers etc if plenty of these natural greens (fruits and vegetables) are consumed frequently.

  2. Fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals that fight to protect health. Phytochemicals are plants chemicals that may provide desirable health benefits beyond basic nutrition to reduce the risk of major chronic diseases.
    Phytochemicals are usually related to color. Fruits and vegetables of different colors--green, yellow, orange, red, blue--purple and white contain their own combination of Phytochemicals and nutrients that work together to promote good health.

  1. Fruit and vegetables help with weight management, since they are low in calories and high in fiber, fruits and vegetables can help you control your weight.

  2. Fruits and vegetables increases energy, busy lives require food that is nutritious, energising and easy to eat--on--the go, like fresh fruits and vegetables. They are a natural source of energy and gives the body many nutrients it needs to keep going.

  3. Good health of the eyes, eye health should be considered very important if you stare at a computer and phone all day which may actually strain the eyes according to American Optometric Association. If you want to protect your eyes, eat more vegetables like carrots. Lutein and Zeaxanthin are two carotenoids that help reduces the risk of age--related macula degeneration (AMD). You'll find them and other eye protecting carotenoids in Basil, Corn, Red peppers, Spinach and Broccoli.

  1. Skin Improvement, you can help take good care of your skin by staying hydrated and getting quality sleep. Still what you consume can help you more. Tomatoes deliver lycopene which can actually help protect your skin from sunburn. Kale and Avocados can help keep your skin more elastic. Many vegetables like Cucumbers 🥒 and Celery also have a high water content to help you meet your hydration goals for glowing skin.

  2. Great benefit for blood sugar, being diabetic or not vegetables are low in calories and high in fiber and nutrients. So they can help fill you up and can also minimise blood sugar spikes during meals.

Here are some great easy gotten vegetables that can be added to your meal or preferred eaten alone....

A. Carrots: The fiber in non-starchy vegetables helps us to feel full and satisfied. Weisenberger recommends carrots as an especially filling, high-fiber vegetable. Carrots are also high in Vitamin A, which helps with immunity and healthy eyes.

B. Broccoli: In addition to helping with satiety, the fiber in vegetables acts as a Prebiotic. Prebiotic fibers are fermented by our gut bacteria, helping them to thrive. Weisenberger says "in some cases, this helps with glucose and cholesterol metabolism ". Broccoli is a great choice for this, as are other Cruciferous vegetables.

C. Zucchini: Zucchini is particularly high in carotenoids compounds that supports heart health and might protect against certain cancers. It is also low in calories and high in fiber.

D. Cabbage: Cabbage is very high in Vitamin C which positively affects heart health. Its also got tons of fiber to slow the digestion of whatever you're eating alongside of it...this will help prevent blood sugar spikes.

Other common and great vegetables are Spinach, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Lettuces, Mushrooms, Green beans, Olives etc

HERE is what happens when you ignore fruits and vegetables in your diet...

  1. Nutritional deficiencies e.g lack of fiber, folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin C and insufficient Potassium intake...

  2. Retention of liquid

  3. Muscle cramps

  4. Constipation

  5. Problems of intestinal flora

  6. High cholesterol problems

  7. Low levels of good cholesterol

  8. Bad circulation

  9. Hypertension

  10. Bad health of the heart

  11. Anemia due to folage deficiency

  12. Weak bones and tooth decay

  13. Excessive bleeding when cutting

  14. Premenstrual syndrome

  15. Dry and flaky skin

  16. Low defenses

  17. Low immune system

  18. Vision problems or lack of night vision

  19. Problems in pregnancy

  20. Stones in the kidney or kidney stones

  21. Overweight or obesity

  22. Childhood Overweight

  23. Cancer...

Let's be guided that apart from what has been mentioned here, there are still numerous health benefits of eating or adding to your diet, fruits and vegetables. They cannot be emphasised enough. These natural greens are life given components. Many would realise that supplements and drugs has great components of fruits and vegetables in them and that is why we must all come to understand the value of having them around us all the time.

We do not need to consume drugs all the time and experience partial or full side effects of them, we can plant fruits and vegetables in our gardens, lands, backyards as some of us have large lands. I newly rented a house with large compound, I am so happy for that because I will get to use the free land at my backyard to plant and cultivate fresh vegetables. I am also permitted to rear chickens 🐔, so I can eat natural things too.
