Fail Online Lesson

in Education4 years ago

One of the most basic ground rules that I missed out when I had my online lesson with my large group of students was I did not state that they should mute their microphones before they entered into the google meet.

It ended with many students chatting with one another and the noise level was terrible.

Many teachers may have made the same mistake like the videoclip below.

When there were too many students answering at the same time, it becomes a problem too.

We need to instruct them that each time there can only be one voice so the rest must mute the microphone.

It is a simple rule but it really made a great difference when I had another lesson with this rule.

Enjoy the funny videoclip above when things went out of control like what happened to me.

Typical kids .... ours are so well classed trained now that they know exactly what to do - I have been doing online teaching for 7 years now but you always have that problem with the bigger ones. They either say nothing or think they are funny - Luckily I control the mics on our platform so they can only speak when I switch it on.

I am experienced in classroom teaching so online teaching is really new to me until this year due to lockdown and school closure. The ability to control their mics is a good management.
