A Sloppy Joe is is a sandwich consisting of ground beef, onions, tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and other seasonings, served on a hamburger bun.
I love using the leftover bolognaise for sandwiches and decided that for my B.I.S.S entry, the art of putting something between two slices of bread, to make an epic Sloppy Joe!
Bolognaise Ingredients:
500g Ground beef
1 Can tomato and onion relish
Dried organum
1 Pack brown onion soup
Dried Italian spice
1 Beef stock cube
Worcestershire sauce
Sloppy Joe ingredients:
Left over bolognaise
Grated cheddar cheese
Olive oil
Hamburger bun
Pickled vegetables
Instructions:
Let the ground beef, organum, Italian spice, stock and Worcestershire sauce simmer away in the slow cooker for 2 – 3 hours. Add the tomato and onion relish and if the mixture is too saucy, add brown onion soup to thicken.
I always make plenty of bolognaise, as it makes awesome sandwiches the next day!
Cut your hamburger bun in halves and lather with olive oil.
Toast the hamburger bun in the air fryer, until crispy, to add some texture and crunch to the sandwich, which is extremely saucy and sloppy!
Load the bottom bun with a generous helping of the bolognaise. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top. I love adding some pickled veggies for a final touch, as it brings a sweet and sour component to the dish.
Add the crispy top bun and voila!
Definitely not a pretty sandwich, but a thick rich Sloppy Joe, to be eaten with your hands, sauce dripping from your chin!
