In the Philippines, "lumpia" or spring rolls are very popular. There are various kinds of this dish. There's fried, fresh and the ingredients can be anything.
For our lunch earlier, mama and I prepared a different kind of lumpia which we haven't really tried yet.. and that is tuna with veggies lumpia.
We cut it into bite size or fun size. :)
In this post, I want to show you guys how my mama and I prepared this special dish we shared for lunch. I hope you enjoy it and perhaps try making it at home as well. :)
Let's all start with the ingredients. :)
For the ingredients, we prepared the following. :)
- potatoes (there are two, but I started cutting one before I took the picture)
- carrot
- garlic
- onion
- cheese]- butter (for cookiing)
- cream
- lumpia wrapper
- 2 cans of tuna (we used one spicy and one in oil)
Once the ingredients are all ready, it's time to do some preparation. The preparation part only includes slicing the ingredients into small cubes. As for the cheese, half of it was grated, and the other half is cubed.
As for the tuna, we separated the tuna meat from the oil using a strainer. Once everything is prepared, we have to start with the first part of cooking. :) Let's go!
We basically just saute all the ingredients into a pan starting from the spices, carrots, potatoes, some seasoning to taste, tuna, cream and cheese. Well, I prepared some pictures for each addition of ingredients, so let's continue. :)
Mama and I prefer the veggies to be a bit crispy, but if you want them softer, you can add more time. We had to set this aside to cool a bit before we can proceed to the next step which is the wrapping part.
This is my favorite part of making lumpia. I enjoy wrapping~! Some people find it tedious or annoying, but I enjoy it, so mama is happy. lol -- she doesn't really like this part
We just have to place enough amount of the pre-cooked ingredients, and wrap it this way. Roll halfway, fold both sides, and roll again. Fasten it with water. :)
Our spring rolls are ready! We only have to fry them. Well, we didn't cook everything. We left some for dinner. Spring rolls are especially delicious when warm and crispy. :)
Deep fried it in low heat. :)
There are some brownish substance because one lumpia wrapper had a whole and some cream came out, so it looked like that. Anyway, we can eat them directly like this, but we decided to cut them into fun size or bite size.
It was super yummy! I like it especially because it was a bit spicy and creamy. The lumpia wrapper we bought this time also wasn't very salty, so it's good!
Have you ever tried this version of lumpia? What ingredients do you like to put in your spring rolls? Is it common in your country? Feel free to comment down below. :)
Thanks for reading! Until next time!!!! <3
