Hello foodies!
It's that time of the month again~!
As usual, I'm going to share to you some photos of the food we shared at home. They're usually prepared by my mama or papa. I have been sharing a post monthly about this, so if you missed the post from last month, here it is --> JULY EDITION.
Are you ready to be hungry? Let's start! ^^
This is mama's version of pork steak garnished with onion. This is a pork version of a Filipino dish called "bistek (beef steak)". In this case, it's pork braised in soy sauce and originally with some citrus. However, mama's style is a bit different. She usually uses pineapple juice instead of citrus and also sprite to make the meat more tender. It's really delicious! I also want the beef version, but yeah... mama doesn't really like cooking beef because of the smell. xD Anyway, this dish is too yummy to ignore. haha
It's chicken-pork-dereta. It's a variation of the Filipino dish Caldereta which can be pork, beef, goat, etc. However, my parents prepared a combination of pork and chicken in their caldereta. It's a tomato-based stew which includes meat, carrots, potatoes, green peas, etc.
According to my mama, this recipe is something she got from her mother. She said grandpa really likes this dish, so grandma used to cook it for them. It's also delicious and I like the pork and chicken combi! <3
This dish doesn't really have a name since it's one of mama's experimental dish. We didn't know what to eat, so she tried to cook something from the ingredients we had at home. That time, we had some spicy tuna, leftover ham, cheese and cream. She just mixed everything together and it was actually really good. It has the right spiciness, creaminess and cheesiness.
We ate it with rice, but one time, I tried eating it with pasta and it was awesome! We also tried making this a spread for some bread and it went pretty well with it. We did it with the normal tuna, not the spicy one. <3
It's lechon manok and lechon baboy. Manok is chicken and baboy is pig. They're both roasted. We didn't prepare this. When Kuya Joseph finally transferred to the house nearby, he bought us these stuff. It was some sort of celebration.
In the Philippines, it's common to have roasted chicken and pig during celebrations. Usually, people buy a whole roasted pig, but we can actually purchase them per kilo as well. And oh, my city is known for it's lechon baboy that there's a Lechon Festival every October. :)
This is actually another experimental dish, but I think it's similar to a Filipino dish called afritada (another tomato-based stew). We had some sliced pork left in the chiller, so mama cooked it together with canned baked beans and potatoes. It's actually good. I like baked beans, so adding it to this dish was perfect! <3
It's fried chicken, but it's not your ordinary fried chicken. :) Mama enjoys watching cooking videos online and she stumbled upon a video of Ketchup Fried Chicken, and so we have it. lol
It tasted like the fried chicken in Max's Restaurant, one of the popular chicken places in the Philippines. Ketchup in the Philippines are usually banana ketchup, so this is a bit on the sweet side. It's really delicious. They had to marinate it for quite a while, so the flavor was really rich. :)
And lastly, our lunch and dinner yesterday! It's mama's version of the Filipino dish called Menudo. It's another tomato-based stew common in the Philippines. I actually don't know how to distinguish menudo from afritada, but maybe it's the cutting style? Anyway, mama's version has some pork, pork liver, hotdogs, carrots, potatoes and green peas. I don't eat pork liver, but it actually add more flavor to the dish, so I don't mind it being included in the ingredients.
I was able to enjoyably share these dishes with papa, mama and kuya Joseph. We're four in the family now (five because ARASHI is incuded...) and it's really much better to eat together with more people. :) The food becomes more delicious and we can enjoyable share stories and whatnots while eating.
I'm happy to share these dishes with you here my fellow foodies. I hope you enjoyed this month's edition of my food photography. Please look forward for next month! ^^
