Ancestors
As a people or civilization I guess we're creatures of habit. We are tied together by our common languages which allow us to communicate with each other. Each of these languages is unique in their own way although they do often come from the same base ancient languages such as Latin.
These ancient languages have been changed and updated and new languages have come along as the years, the centuries and the millennia have passed by but the same thing holds true for all of these languages. They're used first and foremost to communicate with our fellow men, women and children.
What's this got to do with your healthy breakfast Mr. Ablaze? A fair point well made caller!
As I sat thinking about this post earlier on a few expressions sprung to mind, which in term got me thinking about languages handed down by our ancestors. Now let me share two of those expressions and talk about each.
- "You are what you eat"
This one does exactly what it says on the tin. Everything you eat and consume has an effect on you. It gives you energy of course, but it also affects your microbiome, which are all the bacteria that resides in your intestines. It's made up of good bacteria and bad bacteria and without these critters in your gut, you would die.
The better the food and the more diversity, the better it is for your gut health and overall health for that matter, so you see, YOU are what you EAT.
Let's give credit where credit is due. It was actually Anthelme Brillat-Savarin who coined the phrase when he wrote: “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what your are.” all the way back in 1826, so a big thanks and a doff of the hat to Anthelme.
- "A healthy body is a healthy mind"
This one really resonates with me as I can appreciate the holistic connection between all of our organs and our mind. I suspect binging on bad food and drinks will eventually not only lead to negative physical health and ailments, but will also lead to poorer mental health. There is lots of research out there to back this up.
It's simple really, a healthy body typically gives us a healthy mind. So whether it's exercise or healthy eating a healthy body definitely helps us have a healthy mind. This is a staple breakfast that I have most days. The granola is shop bought and is not that healthy, but the rest are wholesome whole foods as you'll see below.
Throw these all together in a bowl as you'll see from the photo below mix them around a bit and I'm almost ready to go. I do like to top it up with another bit of granola to give myself a nice big full bowl as I do not have the breakfast in the morning until late enough, maybe 10 or 11am. Don't get me wrong I get up at about 7:00 a.m and shower and start work. The thing is I don't like to eat first thing, instead I like to give my guy a break from digestion. Some call it intermittent fasting, I just call it common sense.
The pouring of the milk
Time to lash on a bit of milk. You know it makes sense!
Grab a spoon
Now all that is left to do is to grab a spoon and tuck in! I always enjoy a cup of Barry's tea as well.
Ok I might have gone overboard on the milk!!! 😁
So remember, a balanced diet, containing essential nutrients and vitamins, along with daily exercise is a great way to be the best version of you that you can be physically and mentally.
So why not give this healthy breakfast a try one of the days yourself and let me know how you get on....
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone.
Peace Out
