"people are no more afraid" is false, more and more people who were antivax or hesitant have been getting vaccinated, big part due to growing fears of hospitalization or death, or as most people would say, theyre not being willfully ignorant of basic sciences. Lockdowns are coming back in many places, so people are not neccessarily "roaming more free". The virus is not weakening, its mutating and killing off more people, nearly all of whom are unvaccinated. Many people are able to "roam" as you call it, due to being vaccinated. People not being infected by those who refuse to be vaccinated (no hate towards those who actually can not) also like their freedom, like the freedom to not be infected by those who are dont give a shit, which is a much more important freedom then some jag offs ability to go to a concert or go to a bar due to their own stupidity.
