Hello and welcome to all the readers.
Today in 'back to basics' we explore autoresponders
what is an autoresponder
Autoresponder is a program/software which sends a set of emails automatically on your behalf. Autoresponder is mainly used for email marketing.
When a user enters the details on the lead capture page to subscribe to the email list, the autoresponder sends an email to that user to get confirmation for adding to the list.
On confirmation, the subscriber is added to the campaign/list within the autoreponder.
Based on the campaign setup, the autoresponder will then start sending emails.
Note: Lead capture page is just an example. Autoresponders code can be embedded on any signup page or blog page.
what are benefits of a autoresponder
- You can maintain a list of verified prospects or interested people and send them information over a period of time.
- It saves time as it is automated. Once you set it up, emails will be send automatically.
- Each subscriber gets the same set of emails, irrespective of the number of subscribers in the list.
- You can setup rules and time intervals for each campaign/list within the autoresponder
- You can even send broadcast emails whenever necessary. Broadcast emails are one time emails send with specific information.
- You can create multiple campaigns and associate different lead capture pages to it.
what are the various autoresponders available in the marketing
Trafficwave, Aweber, Getresponse to name a few.
Even, leadsleap has an in-built autoresponder.
Most of them have a monthly subscription to use.
Leadsleap has a free version with limited features.
I use trafficwave for my campaigns.
Setting up a campaign within a autoresponder is easy.
The only difficult part is writing the email series you want to send.

Most of the autoresponders have similar configurations.
The things to keep in mind:
- Be aware of the GDPR rules, email spam rules
- Emails/letters sent should contain a simple option to unsubscribe from the list.
- Email series should be used to sent relevant information for which they have subscribed for.
- Make sure the title doesn't contain words which are treated as spam.
- You should track the click-through rate of the links within the emails sent. This will help you understand what is producing results and what is not.
