I hated videos exactly for these reasons until I discovered OBS. It's an open source software that allows you to capture screen, include webcam, add images, titles and many other stuff. You can define the scenes in advance and just start registering. Like that it takes me about 10 minutes to prepare a video and then another 10 to record it. There is no post editing (that's the part I hate). Like that I find it much more fun to deal with videos ;-).
