"How did it all start?" Jennifer questioned with renewed interest after interrupting her real estate agent, Vanecia. They met over coffee to discuss her potential purchase, as a single parent, of a new home nearby. Relocating from another state, the starter home satisfied all her and her son's requirements. The subdivision under discussion that initially caught her attention ultimately satisfied none of her quest for a peaceful life. Not after her previous ordeal in a heated and uncivilized divorce.

Vanecia immediately regretted disclosing the incident. Her sales for the quarter weren't as expected assigned to that region. Dissuading a potential buyer wouldn't aid in her year-end quota.

But she couldn't rest knowing she'd convinced a buyer to purchase in that subdivision. She would address the consequences later. Of immediate importance was the incident that changed her opinion of the area she once held in high regard.

Vanecia repeated what she knew from eye witness reports and newspaper accounts.

It all started in the cul-de-sac one day as innocent as a new-born baby. It only took one look. From there, a woman's life was ruined. A man's reputation was damaged. Two people deceased. A family torn apart. And the street on Fall Benning Lane became famous for not being a safe place to settle.

But it truly didn't start that particular day.

"May I help you take your packages inside?" Ronald Newberry yelled, as he waved to his neighbor, Rochelle Hartford, from the opposite side of the lane.

Rochelle's husband was away on a business trip. They'd only moved into the subdivision the past year. Ronald noticed her husband was away at least twice a month. Making both of their acquaintances, he and his wife befriended the Hartford's.

On that day, a single woman, Karina Olson, having moved into the neighborhood only nine months prior, stood in her driveway four houses down from both Ronald and Rochelle homes. Busy checking her dating profile, she frowned. No hits. She admitted defeat, then turned to see whether she could uncover anything newsworthy and worth her attention.

Karina glanced at her watch. Thirty minutes before she was to leave for her second-shift job. She had already applied to become a member of the neighborhood watch association. As of that day, her application status was pending.

So, she canvassed the lane, paying close attention to the cul-de-sac. Suspicious activity had come to her attention recently, so she wanted to be the first to report the incident. Her keen sense of identifying danger had served her well in previous neighborhoods.

Her eyes widened in disgust at the covert scene she witnessed.

There standing in plain sight was Ronald Newberry about to enter Rochelle Hartford's home. He followed her inside after she exited her car. Holding her groceries, Rochelle unlocked her door.

Karina's hands flew up to her mouth. She waited the full thirty-minutes before she needed to leave for her job. Ronald had yet to leave Rochelle's home.

"Appalling," she murmured, especially having not spotted Rochelle's husband at home for at least a week. Why would a man venture inside another man's home while that man was away presumably working hard for his family? She was wise to the ways of men and their wandering eyes and everything else attached. Shameful, was all she could muster, shaking her head in absolute disapproval.

So Karina decided to inform Rochell's husband.

rinreMr4T-dividerline-Resized.png

"The ensuing violent incident was not something I would wish on any couple," Vanecia uttered, her voice choking, then continued.

"The sad part about the situation was that all could have been prevented if Karina would have kept to herself opinions of which she was unsure. Instead, she set into motion a simmering pot that erupted as a result of underlying jealousy, hatred, insecurity, and a host of other personality deficiencies she knew nothing of."

What Karina didn't know and the news reports confirmed with family members was that Rochelle husband's state of mind had already reached the level of mistrust and suspicion about his wife. A beautiful bronze toned body sporting a soft complexion with waist-length brown strands that glistened when the sun's rays filtered through, Rochelle unknowingly invited envy. Although faithful, her couldn't convince her husband.

Once Rochelle's husband returned Karina, true to her word, pulled him aside and related the incident that set in motion a rise in his level of insecurity that couldn't be squelched. A few months after, the authorities visited their home.

No one knew what particular bizarre thoughts set him ablaze on that fateful night when his grievances, whether true or imagined, poured out uncontrollably. An avid hunter, his weapon of choice was readily available. The verdict was the usual when domestic disturbances turn violent. No one remains to tell exactly what happened.

The ensuing investigation threw Ronald, who was only trying to be helpful he reported, and his family into turmoil.

Jennifer hung her head low. Full memory of her own trauma rushed back. But she made the decision to leave before the incident that was headed in her direction could prevail.

"It appears as though the person causing all the confusion in the subdivision is this Karina person. Has she been involved in other incidents? Individuals who set out to destroy the lives of others weave a tangled web of deceit. I know this to be true. If that is the case, then I won't be purchasing a home in that subdivision. It doesn't appear to be a safe place for me or my child."

"Yes, she has been involved in other incidents. But her application was approved before the unfortunate incident occurred. I'm sure the association is now reviewing her part in the tragedy." Vanecia exhaled as she concluded the newspaper report of the aftermath.

By the time Vanecia finished, Jennifer's decision to pass on the property located two houses down from the Hartford's was final.

With that, Jennifer crossed the home on Fall Benning Lane off her list. She thanked Vanecia for being honest with her. She didn't divulge to Vanecia her past in overcoming a similar incident that resulted in her becoming a single parent and relocating to another state.

Jennifer knew that no place is one hundred percent safe. There will be issues no matter where one resides. But she was grateful to Vanecia for exposing this gossip and not allowing her to unknowingly enter into another situation that might potentially disrupt her and her son's life.

Life was too short to dwell in a constant state of drama, she concluded.

The story is indeed a crazy one and also emotional. I used to have a neighbor who caused trouble for so many people on the street. I’m just happy that people were able to ignore her till she left the area

Yes, crazy indeed. I think many of us have encountered neighbors who are just wackos and love to entrench themselves into others' lives, then gossip about them to anyone that will listen. Crazy world out there.

Thanks for commenting on my question. I appreciate it.

"Comment tout a commencé"

Have you ever encountered a neighbor that caused trouble for others? If so, I'd like to know how the situation was handled or resolved.

@justclickindiva Haha the story of a not very delicate neighbor. I had a neighbor who lived in the building across the street from me. Between the two buildings was a pedestrian street with a maximum width of 3 meters. They were old buildings. My neighbor who was about the same age as me was, I think, an idiot. He played morning and evening on his games console plugged into his stereo with the volume at maximum. His favorite game was car racing. I tried diplomacy to make him understand to lower it so as not to share his leisure time with the residents of the two buildings. My bedroom window overlooked his, so imagine I was the one enjoying his games the most. The problem was solved three times. When he was sleeping I woke him up with music blaring from my speakers towards his. Of course, knowing his musical tastes, I managed to wake him up with music that he didn't like. Afterwards he must have understood because he calmed down quickly.

Wow, situation solved with diplomacy. How appropriate to use his indelicacy against him. Sometimes people don't understand words; then understand actions. You have to show them how their lack of consideration intrudes upon others.

Well done @cyboule. Thanks so much for responding to my question. I appreciate it and the engagement.

Take care.

Hello @justclickindiva . Nice to greet you

We are participating in marketing campaign on Zealy to further boost InLeo (formerly called LeoFinance) and Hive in general. As part of the tasks, we are encouraging some users to get back to posting on LeoThreads (in microblogging format). I see that you have not posted there this month. I'd like to encourage you to stop by and create a simple thread, perhaps saying a brief hello, giving a good wish or promoting your most recent post on Hive (but leave the link in the comment, not in the first thread) We'd really like to see you post something simple there today or tomorrow. Please think about it

We'll keep meeting 👋

(InLeo site: https://inleo.io/threads/latest) You log in with your same Hive keys in general.

My understanding was that the management at Leo did not care for content creators and was on board in favor of eliminating content rewards. Is this a true analysis of the situation? If so, then why ask for content creators' assistance in boosting InLeo SEO visibility?

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

I understand your concern. Now, I have never heard that they want to remove the content rewards. Rather, did you know that by microblogging there you also earn rewards on $HIVE $HBD and $LEO at the same time? With these campaigns we are doing on Web2 and Web3 we are promoting not only INLEO, but Hive in general. And we are having a lot of success in attracting people who don't know us yet. That translates into a larger audience for the content presented here.

Anyway, I just came by to make an invitation, a suggestion. My intention was not to make you uncomfortable.

I am sure we will continue working together, like bees, for this hive, each one playing different roles.

Thank you for attending these lines. Receive a token of my respect and cordiality. I hope you have a happy day @justclickindiva 🤗

And I thank you for returning and leaving an explanation. If my understanding is incorrect, then I apologize. My reading of Leo's responses to this particular issue led me to believe that they were in favor of eliminating curation rewards.

I will take time out today and reread their comments on the issue to discern their stance. I appreciate your candid information.

Take care and have a good rest of your week and upcoming holiday.

With pleasure. Thank you also for understanding and reading me.

I am sure you will find good information in that research.

Likewise, I wish you well, health and success. We will continue to meet. 😊

Nowadays, such a time is going on, every person is busy in his mobile day and night and there is no time to talk with each other.
