Privacy is a human right. If blockchain needs to take over all aspects of life, it must have privacy features or else the world will need to become a dystopia. But bringing privacy to a decentralized ledger is very difficult and it can seriously hinder scalability. Luckily there has been a lot of developments going on in the department of Zero-Knowledge Cryptography and we are slowly starting to see benefits of that.
