Hive Inspection Day!

One of my favorite additions to the Gubba Homestead are the bee hives! Today I take you with me doing a hive inspection and what I look for. This process is done to ensure the bees are doing well and to see if they could use any type of assistance from me.

In my previous videos you watched me build the hives (which let me remind you I’d rather have bought already built ones lol) and from there introduced the bees to their new home. In that video I was wearing no protection as I felt safe around them and they were also a bit on the sleepy side from being boxed up. As you could see by the end of that video there were pretty lively.

I do still feel very safe around them and I’m not scared of them at all. In fact I enjoy listening and watching them grow. I won't be removing any honey from the hives this year so they can be ready for winter. I’ve already watched a number of cool things the bees do and one was fanning off the entry to the hives the other day as the summer weather rolled in. I’ll be making some adjustments to address these things as I learn about them.

Did you spot the queen?

Thank you!

Wow this impressive going through your bees hive, they seems to easily get along with and and hardly touch you, I wish I could be that close to them, but my previous experience of being bitten by them can't give me the courage to ever do again.

Wow wonderful job dear fellow, I am afraid of the bees because they can bite me but great you are not afraid of them.

And I love to eat honey 🍯, thanks for sharing your experience.

Yay! 🤗
