Space Force 3: Chapter 4: Enter, Repair-o-Bot!

in The LIFESTYLE LOUNGE4 years ago

Searching for Space Force Two, who were lost after searcing for Space Force One, who were lost mere weeks after launch, Space Force Three bravely explores the far reaches of space.

...beep... ...beep... ...beep...

Pink sat alone in the Mission Control Centre, as he liked to call it; the others called it either the Bridge or the Cockpit. Except White. White did not like the term "cockpit." She said it made her feel uncomfortable.

So Pink sat alone, listening to the instruments, guiding the ship, lovingly caressing the round controls and curved instruments. This was his ship, and he was proud of it.

...GONG!...

Suddenly, the entire ship shook and shivered as a loud, semi-metallic GONG of warning sounded through the Mission Control Centre. The ship began to spin out of control.

"Pink! Status report!" Blue's voice crackled through the intercom.

Pink looked at dials and dashes, levers and knobs; he pushed these, pulled those and, expertly and quickly, found the issue. "Something is wrong!"

Thankfully for Pink, White was nearby and poked her head into the cockp... Mission Control Centre. Taking her seat at the controls she very shortly had the ship under control, stabilised, and at an all-stop.

Before long the entire crew was gathered and running additional diagnostics. They were able to determine that a micro-fracture in the external hull had widened until one of the thrusters broke free entirely.

"On the plus side," Pink offered up, "we still have one working engine. We can still get to where we need to go, just half as fast."

"We have spare engines," droned Repair-o-Bot, who had just arrived to join the rest of the crew. "I guess I'll need to venture outside to fix it."

Luckiy for the crew Repair-o-Bot was brave, trustworthy, and goal driven. It was also in his programming to be such. With help from the robot arm that allows the crew to float outside, Repair-o-Bot selflessly ventured forth, repaired the damage with his trusty wrench, and was safely brought back inside.

"Repairs successful," Repair-o-Bot droned. The crew performed additional diagnostics and, after finding that, indeed, Repair-o-Bot is as good as his namesake, continued their journey to find Space Force 2.
