I do agree that we need to be concerned about a new virus, and one that seems to be spreading as easily as this one is, but I also think that we, as a society, are over reacting. Over the last 6 months, for instance, there were anywhere between 22,000 - 55,000 deaths in the US alone due to the flu (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm). So, yes, we should be concerned and take precautions, but we should not be panicking.
