Keeping Your Head Above Water | A Mixed Media Art Project [Eng/Esp]

The theme of my mixed media art project is "keeping your head above water." Life's struggles are difficult enough trying to stay ahead of any disaster lurking int he background. Whenever a crisis unfolds, numerous obstacles appear that may prevent you from extracting yourself from its grips. The same is true for any financial crisis. If you are unprepared when an emergency strikes, you may find yourself without adequate resources to stay afloat until the crisis ends.

Emergency preparedness in any aspect of life is a wise plan to put in place. I know that residing on the Gulf Coast, having an escape route and plan to quickly move in case of a natural disaster is imperative. I have my bug-out-bag with essentials. A flood insurance policy to protect my home, and an emergency fund to bridge the gap until I relocate elsewhere, if necessary.

I often think of those who have not put a plan in place. Year after year, these individuals are seen on the news devastated when disaster strikes. No one can predict when a natural or other disaster will strike. The only thing one can do is plan for the possible occurrence of recurring flooding we are susceptible to.

When it does happen, we are inundated and overcome for weeks, if not months or years in the aftermath.

To depict my artistic interpretation of what I feel is "keeping you head above water".

This is a person depicted in the best of times.

However, when an emergency strikes and one is not prepared, this is my version of someone trying to cope with the situation currently at hand:

To develop my theme, I created several fractals to depict the water scene. The water represents flooding that is prevalent during storm or hurricane events. For the human, I chose a free-sourced image.

The stars of my project are several pure fractals I created in Apophysis 7X, an advanced fractal rendering program. These fractals are woven throughout the scene to depict water, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters that can occur.

For the free-sourced images, I chose a water scene as the landscape.

An image of a man's head and black panther were used to depict the calm person, and the person in turmoil after a disaster strikes.

To blend all the images, I uploaded them into Canva. This design program I use as part of my Annual Pro Membership Subscription. The features I enjoy are colorizing, background removal, filtering, and resizing.

I start with a blank canvas. My procedures are from left to right.

Switched canvas black; added green fractal.

Added castle/mountain image as background.
image.png

Added another fractal to represent waves.
image.png

Added fractal round disks.
image.png

Added fractal entitled "turmoil".
image.png

Added man's head.
image.png

Added black panther image.
image.png

Flipped and duplicated corn stalk.
image.png

Duplicated castle; repositioned as landscape.
image.png

Added fractal circles to represent tornadoes.

Duplicated fractal round disks.

Duplicated fractal "turmoil".

Removed background for man's head. Filter.

Mantener la cabeza fuera del agua

Apophysis-HeadAboveWater-Ver2.jpg

image.png

Añadida imagen de castillo/montaña como fondo.
image.png

Añadido otro fractal para representar ondas.
image.png

Añadidos discos redondos fractales.
image.png

Añadido fractal titulado "turmoil".
image.png

Añadida la cabeza del hombre.
image.png

Añadida imagen de pantera negra.
image.png

Tallo de maíz volteado y duplicado.
image.png

Castillo duplicado; reposicionado como paisaje.
image.png

Añadidos círculos fractales para representar tornados.
image.png

Discos redondos fractales duplicados.
image.png

"Alboroto" fractal duplicado.
image.png

Eliminado fondo de la cabeza del hombre. Filtrar.
image.png

Eliminado fondo pantera negra. Redimensionado.

Thanks so much for your visit and kind words. I'm pleased you liked my theme and how I managed to compile the various images. I love creating fractals, then blending them with other type art.

I appreciate your support. Take care.

It is a fact that the person who has succeeded in life is the one who has worked hard day and night and has worked wisely. There will be eyes that are not at all happy with his success. Colours combination is very great.

Hello @djbravo. You are correct that the person who plans well also succeeds. It's best not to be caught off guard. You can accomplish this by having a plan in case of emergencies.

Thanks so much for your visit and support. Take care.

I really like your work of art

Hello @cyboule. I appreciate such a lovely compliment for my mixed media art project. I love creating fractals. But most of all, I love exploring how they can transform when blended with other type art.

Thank you for your visit and support. Take care and have a good start to your week ahead.
