Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt tournament".
...The race is not always to the fastest, or highest, so winning can be accomplished in numerous ways. I believe it's the heart and determination one puts forth that makes him or her successful. Belief in ones self is also a factor. Trophies are secondary. I share a micro-ficton story for the prompt "tournament" of willingness to put forth an effort in a Zapfic 100 story. This short story format format was created by @felt.buzz.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Day 1906: 5 Minute Freewrite: Tuesday - Prompt: tournament.
Below is my story:
Visitors were rare, so Manny didn't rush when the knock came.
The man spoke quickly. "I understand you're hell on wheels." Not the best introduction, but Manny's neighbor had already given a heads up.
"Better than "be in" heaven on wheels!" Manny belted out a hearty laugh.
"I'm Jacob. Your neighbor tells me you can reach speeds of fourteen mph.
"Braggart. Sixteen. Why?"
"The Paralympics. Here's a brochure if you'd like to read about it."
Manny accepted it, then proceeded to read, nodding his head and smiling.
He'd never won at anything.
This type of tournament he could definitely win.
