Moycullen through to their second ever Connacht final

What a win

You all know what football is or soccer as some call it. Both America and ourselves have our own versions of football. They call it American football and we call it Gaelic football. So to avoid confusion the world wide football is known as soccer by many.

Each of Ireland's 32 counties contest the All Ireland or equivalent of the FA cup and then all the clubs in each county have their own championship which is extremely competitive.

In Galway, our home club Moycullen have only won their county Championship 3 times ever, most recently just last month and I try to bring my sons to most of the games.

As you can see Moycullen have won the coveted Frank Fox cup in 2020, 2022 and again this year. They also lost two finals in 2023 and 2024, so have been unbelievable in recent years.

This is the starting team from Moycullen who went to battle against the Sligo champions shamrock Gaels on a cobalt blue skied november day two sundays ago.

This is the team that the Sligo champions lined out with. They gave us a good game in the first half and stuck with us early on. Moycullen burst out of the traps with a flurry of well taken points, but sligo champions came back with a goal to draw level and the game was close in those opening exchanges, and indeed, even into the second half, the Sligo champions stayed with us. But then the class started to show as Moycullen pulled away, eventually winning on a score line of 1-19 to 1-09
