Idea: An adjustable quality monitoring dashboard for Hive accounts

A what? Let me explain my most recent idea to you.

Recently I've discovered the Mantecurated tool) by the @mantequilla-soft team. With tool you can get an overview of the curation health of a user.
It shows the diversity of authors, vote distribution and self votes. The better you score on these points, the higher your score. I find it a really cool tool to see how you are doing. And with 82/100 I'm doing quite well I think, although I could improve my distribution a bit.

mantecurated.png

This is a really cool tool that give you a really good insight of the quality of your voting or the voting of other accounts.
But this tool also gave me the idea for another tool. What if we make a dashboard with even more statistics?

Quality monitoring dashboard

Personally I find it quite hard to determine whether an account is adding value to Hive. Especially with the rise of AI and the high number of scammers. The only statistic that is shown on most front-ends is reputation level. And to be fair, this number doesn't tell me a lot. There are accounts with a high reputation that aren't adding much value anymore and newbies with a low rep that do. And also scammers are using accounts with quite a high rep of around 50.
Recently PeakD introduced the KE to (check my recent blog about it). But also KE doesn't tell everything. Some people just need the rewards to pay for their bills in real life.

So I thought; wouldn't it be cool if there was a dashboard like the Mantecurated tool, but then will all kinds of stats from an account?
With an overview of all stats from an account you will get a better view on their behaviour on Hive,
I think such a tool would really help curators make better decisions while curating.

It might look something like this (generated by AI based on the content of this blog):

Which stats?

I have created a list of stats that I think might be interesting to see on a dashboard

  • Posts/Comment ratio (does the user only post or do they also comment)
  • Interaction with own posts (does the user interact with its own posts)
  • Unique downvotes (how many downvotes from unique accounts did this user receive)
  • Number of comments per day/month
  • Average post length
  • Average comment length
  • Autovotes received (does this account get a lot of upvotes from the same users at the same times)
  • KE
  • HW Blacklist (is the account on the blacklist of Hivewatchers)
  • Outgoing transactions to known exchanges
  • Transfers to other Hivers
  • Send out vs Received
  • Average reward per post
  • Self votes (how many times did the user self vote)
  • Vote distribution (not always voting the same users)

These are the stats I've come up with, but maybe there are some more interesting ones to add to the dashboard. Feel free to share yours in the comments.

Which timeframe

There are accounts that have been registered almost 10 years ago and a lot can happen over the years. Someone might have changed their habits over the years. It would be interesting to focus on a more recent timeframe like a year or even a month. Maybe it can even be made adjustable.

divider.png

Configurable thresholds and traffic lights

It would be cool if some of the stats could have personal configurable thresholds. For instance if a user has a KE < 50, the bar is green, but when it goes above that threshold it turns red.

divider.png

Indicator in front-ends

Ideally I would like to see the traffic light I mentioned above integrated in the front-ends.
The idea is that the traffic light turns red if any of your configured thresholds is exceeded.
The red light doesn't mean you shouldn't upvote, but should be seen as a warning! A sign for you to look into the stats of the author before curating.

As new accounts don't have any thresholds configured we might want to think of a default set of thresholds.

What do you think?

I realise this is quite a big project and there are probably a lot of things to say against some of the stats. But I do think it would be helpful to have a quick overview of these (and maybe even more stats). It would at least help me make better choices when curating.
And when we as Hivers can influence our own stats by changing our behaviour.

I'm really curious what you think about this idea.

I'm tagging a couple of developers to see if this idea is even feasible at all; @ecoinstant @thecrazygm @beggars @eddiespino @demotruk

Hey @friendlymoose, I love the idea. I'm a big fan of stats, I've always been. And as others have said, I think this is doable and would be very cool and useful.

The Curation Quality Score was an original idea from @meno, and I helped develop it and expand it a little bit more. And I think it would make sense to have even more stuff. I think the tricky part is how to get all of the data in the most efficient way.

Thanks man! Great that you like the idea and that it is doable.

I'm not surprised it is the idea of @meno 😀

Collecting all the data may be an issue indeed. But maybe not all data? And start small...

If I can be of any help, let me know. I'm no developer, but I'm always prepared to think along and promote tools.

Amazing, I checked it out the other day. Really cool!

Thanks!

On one hand I can see why it's be useful and on the other I recoil at even more monitoring and surveillance on how we use Hive. I do like the adjustable timeframe. Some of us disappear for a bit because of real life - perhaps a toggle that shows their absence and how that might affect other scores. I don't like the worry about absences from Hive affecting arbitrary scores..

It shouldn't become a surveillance tool, but more a dashboard th a quickly shows you relevant info for the user.
Last activity is a really good one too!

The Curators have had their fun, now it's the Authors' turn.

A little joke to start the comment, right? 😅 This proposal/idea is really great, to be honest. I am confident that it may become possible in the future, especially now that the Hive developers have stepped up their game more than before. By the way, I didn't know you were a developer, well, I just found out you're also a curator, but oh well.

By the way, I have complete confidence that the Mantequilla Soft team will make your proposal a reality. What's more, it would be great if you worked with them. Every new idea and tool they create is more fascinating than the last. I was already crazy about Hangouts and now we have real-time translations, it's insane. Above all, Meno is one of the great geniuses of this team.

Keep it up!

I said I'm not a developer 😉
That's why I call out to other developers.
I think this idea really has potention and could resultnin a very useful tool.

Oh, sorry, I misread then. 😅

Yes, I agree.

Ohhh... Interesting, I'll try it out and see. 👀

More metrics = More gooder! The granularity is available, just needs to be hacked into a onepage by someone capable of doing so.

I think so too. I'm not a developer myself, so that's why I tagged some.
Let's see if they can build it.
There are enough great developers on Hive, so I do think so.

@sagarkothari88 has also been busy with all kinds of tools lately ,hCurators UI maybe he can combine those things .

Good one! Tag anyone that might be interested ont this!

thank you for suggesting hCurators @stresskiller

I think it'd be really neat! I love stats and I do think it'd be helpful to see how see that kind of information. I checked out the tool you linked to and got a pretty low score which made me realize I would do better to spread out my upvotes more. :)

I do think auto-votes are a tricky subject though. I have a few set up for users whom I think are really cool because I realized I was upvoting everything they posted, and apparently have gained the same from others. I consider this quite different from purchased auto-votes or votes from things like SBI.

Thanks for the feedback.
Funny that you used the voting tool and that it inspired you to change your voting a bit.
I think 'my tool', could do the same, but then for more stats.

I also use autovoting, but only when my HP is above 90. That is different than only doing autovotes or buying votes.
Maybe this can be something the tool could monitor as well.

If nothing else, marking some accounts as "auto-vote" accounts for things like the various SBI accounts that are used for upvoting.

Not just voting but also realizing it's been a while since I went outside of my usual communities/folks I follow which means I'm def missing out on some cool stuff.

Very true.

What you are asking is indeed doable and honestly not a bad idea.

Cool! I think it really could add value. Maybe you should check in with the guys from Mantequilla since they also replied to this blog.
We don't want to build two of the same tools I think.

I know I have been lax in curation of late, but on the whole, I'm OK with my stats.

It wouldn't hurt to show who and what a given account downvotes, too. I'm perfectly OK with my record against spam and abuse being more public.

I had the idea to show who are being downvoted frequently to determine scammers and spammers.
Maybe exclude some account that downvote on a structural basis.

That is really Great Idea to keep all the things at one place, I just checked ManteCurated's contribution to Eco system which is really impressive.
Hope you will get things easier as you would like.

Thanks man!
I hope it can be built too.

If you have solid plans you easily can do it.

There seems to be a never ending stream of apps all trying to out app each other( if that is what they are called these days?) in respect of checking other users out. I ask what value does this bring, how much is it costing and how does it draw noobs into the hive?
There are lies damned lies and statistics. as a wiseman once said.

Yes, AI is giving the tools a boost. I do think it is good to keep developing.

What the added value is? I think that a stats page like this gives manual curators an insight whether an account is adding value in their eyes.
When people that add value get more reqards and those that don't get less, it would have a positive effect on the price. I think you could also easily detect scammers with a dashboard like this. Less value extracted, the better for the price of Hive, no?
And a better price would probably attract new noobs.

👍, if it works for some folk fair enough, I am a manual curator, but focus on whether the content interests me and is well presented, rather than the author

I focus on both 👍

👍
