The 41st match of the IPL 2021 was played between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals yesterday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah. KKR beat DC by 3 wickets and placed the 4th position on the points table. KKR won 5 matches out of 11 matches. One the other hand DC have already confirmed the playoffs and hold the 2nd place on the points table. They won 8 matches out of 11 matches.
KKR won the toss and invited DC to bat first. DC openers Steven Smith and Shikhar Dhawan started well. Dhawan scored 24 runs in 20 balls including 5 fours. Smith scored 39 runs in 34 balls including 4 fours. But after breaking their partnership other batsman totally failed to make a creditable innings expect Rishab Pant's 39 runs in 36 balls including 3 fours. Finally DC scored total 127 runs by 9 wickets.
KKR bowlers performed brilliantly. Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson picked up 2 wickets for 10 runs in 2 overs. Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Venkatesh Iyer also took 2 wickets and Tim Southee 1 wicket.
In reply KKR planned to chase down the small target and started very carefully but they were also losing wickets continuously. Opener Venkatesh Iyer has gone for 14 runs. Striker Shubman Gill scored 30 runs in 33 balls including a four and 2 sixes. Nitish Rana played till end of the game and scored 36 runs in 27 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. But Sunil Narine played the important innings and scored 21 runs just in 10 balls including a four and 2 sixes.
DC bowlers tried their best but it's not soo easy to stop KKR for the small target. Avesh Khan bowled brilliantly and picked up 3 wickets for 13 runs in 3 overs. Anrich Nortje, Ravichandran Ashwin, Lalit Yadav, Kagiso Rabada each took one wicket. Sunil Narine was player of the match for his brilliant all round performance.
