RE: What does Geometry have to do with Football?

in Sports Talk Social4 months ago

I don't do any coaching yet but the oldest is only four and started hurling this year so no doubt i'll get roped in somewhere along the way. I wouldn't mind if i had the time as i love being involved with sport.

Triangles are the way to go and for me speed of attack. Get the ball forward quickly before the team can set a defense. The slow build up is a killer as it's easy to blanket defense if you have the time.

Oh you can be sure you'll get roped in Niall!! My logic is that sure I am dropping them up to training anyway, so why not be involved. I also love sport and it is a great way to get to know lots of the young lads that are their age from different schools around the area, so you've an idea who they might be knocking around with as they get older. To be honest I don't have the time myself, as I have a shit tonne of commitments between work, family etc, but I just carve out the time, as I know it won't be forever and the kids live that I am involved.

You are dead right about speed of attack, that is something I work on with them a lot too, quick decisions and no dilly dallying on the ball.
