It's all about the scenery.
Becasue the golf was hit or miss. Where else in the world can you go for a game of golf on a sunny Saturday among thousand year old castle ruins?
That's why I love this country. When i moved out to the countryside again form the city it's hard to meet people and get involved in the local area so I joined the local gold siciety.
It's more fun and friendly than joining a club iwth an outing once a month across different cources. The perfect way to get playing and meet a few people.
THis month we played Adare manor. There are two courses here with the championship course set to host the ryder cup in the near future.
We wouldn't be allowed to even ook at that one without a platinum card.
Luckily the peasents are allowed to play the B course whci is a lovely course in itself.
My golf was ok without being good and I managed to shoot 26 points which was about the middle of the field.
On the plus side, the day was gorgeous and the caric was good.
THis was the best setting out of all of them where you played directly into the ruins of an old castle.
Stunning settings.
Even better were was the ice cold pint of Bulmers that I had at the clubhouse after and the six pints of guiness back at the local pub that evening.
It's gold with a social side to it and a lot of the players like myself are only out for an escape form the family and a few dirnks in the evening.
