Premier league action set to take place as Arsenal host Watford in style

in Sports Talk Social2 years ago

Today's match will witness the Gunners host Watford at the Emirates as the gunners are really getting their heads upright after recovering from a poor start in the premier league. Despite three Premier League defeats in a row to open their campaign is no more than a distant memory for Arsenal, who are looking different now and up the ground towards the UEFA Champions League spot.

Arsenal so far, are seven-match unbeaten in a row in the premier league with five wins and two draws (W5, D2) and has recovered subsequently following their terrible start of the season. The Gunners now have the opportunity to go eight premier league games unbeaten for the first time since 2020.

Arsenal will be pleased to host their visitors Watford at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, a side that they have won three consecutive home premier league head-to-head against.

The Gunners however, are displaying a fast start that may hold the key for the host as they have led at half-time in their last four premier league wins and have also secure win in the last three competitive head-to-head at any venue.

However, with the prolific record it’s a different ball game when they fall behind first, having claimed no points this season when conceding first with three lost (L3). Watford on the other side, their return to the premier league has been largely steady, but despite that with their fellow relegation rivals picking up points last weekend they’ve been stocked dangerously close to the relegation zone in 16th position with 10points.

A remarkable 5-2 victory over Everton away from home was dampened by a 1-0 home defeat to Southampton in their previous game, and the visitors last six premier league defeats have now seen them lose without scoring.

The match is definitely going to be a difficult one for the away side as the Gunners are ready to maintain their Unbeaten streak, so a win against Arsenal has proved to be a thankless task for new Watford boss Claudio Ranieri, who has a wretched managerial record against the Gunners with one win, six draws and 11 loses (W1, D6, L11).

If Watford throughly want to pick a point here against Arsenal, Claudio Ranieri side simply have to stop leaking goals, with Watford having no premier league clean sheets this season.

Players to watch

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The gabonese international has two goals in his last three Premier League appearances and have netted first-half doubles in his previous two premier league meetings with Watford.

The player however, is going to be a heavy task for Watford defence as the chance of stopping him from scoring would be difficult, with the fact that the visitors are unable to keep cleansheet

Ben Foster

The veteran goalkeeper has never keep a cleansheet against Arsenal in 19 appearances against them and would be looking forward to break that jinx as both side would be facing each other soon.
