Cristiano Ronaldo was the saviour once again for United, as his stunning last-minute volley effort secured a 2-2 draw for Manchester United against Atalanta away from home.

The English side started the game in a good note and could have been infront inside five minutes. After work from Paul Pogba on the edge of the 18-yard-box displayed a chance for Scott McTominay, but his deflected shot went back off the post to put the visitors ahead.

Manchester United Eric Bailly did massively well by blocking Zapata's effort to stop Atalanta from doubling their lead, and Man United’s dismal in the opening 35 minutes were compounded when Raphaël Varane departed the field with an injury, forcing Man United's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær to revert to a back-four system.

However, with that change of formation in approach allowed Man United’s attackers to express themselves and they found the equaliser in first-half stoppage time, as Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the score line for the visitors. A slick pass move resulted in Bruno Fernandes backheeling the ball to Ronaldo who was on the move, strike from 12 yards to put the English side back in the game before half time to make 1-1.

Manchester United have lost five of their last ten games in all competitions and went behind again once more against Gian Piero Gasperini's side in the 56th minute as the host took the lead. A clipped ball over the top allowed Duván Zapata to race through and chip a finish over De Gea with a fine finish. The goal was said to be ruled out for offside, but after a lengthy VAR check, the decision was reversed with the Harry Maguire said to have clearly put the Colombian striker on side.

Ole Gunner Solskjær missed the opportunity on registering Man United’s 150th victory in Europe’s premier cup competition, despite that it could have been worse after Ronaldo once again secure point for the English side to draw level in stoppage time, after performing a stunning strike from the edge of the area to draw level.

The goal which saw the Portuguese international fifth goal in four UEFA Champions League games this term sees Man United move top of Group F with two games remaining with a wonderful display away from home.

Defending champions Chelsea were in action last night as they needed just a single goal to claim all three points over Malmö at the Eleda Stadion with a 1-0 win. The victory which saw Thomas Tuchel’s men display within touching distance of securing one of the two qualification spots in UEFA Champions League Group H.

However, having shown their considerable performance in quality with a 4-0 victory in the previous group-stage fixture between the two sides last month, the 'blues' were unable to break down the Swedish club defence in the first half.

However, Chelsea did create a number of quality chances to score but failed to utilize their efforts against the host. One of those opportunity came best for Kai Havertz, but the German international failed to slide the ball beyond goalkeeper Johan Dahlin when played in by Ruben Loftus-Cheek as both teams were still in search of a goal.

Despite the performance at half time, Thomas Tuchel will have been pleased with his side’s style of play as they managed 15 shots to their opponents’ two. As such, the London club will surely have headed into the dressing room at half time believing the game would eventually break as they have more advantage to secure all three points in the game.

The second half started in a good note as the English side continue with their pressure against the swedish side and eventually the Premier League side’s perseverance paid off just ten minutes into the second half with some fantastic combination play fromCallum Hudson-Odoi which came down the right flank, and the Chelsea man played a perfect ball across the box to Morrocan Hakim Ziyech to put the blues infront.

Chelsea continue to mount more pressure on the home side as Havertz once again came close to beating Dahlin, who also thwarted a Ruben Loftus-Cheek drive as Hakim Ziyech’s lone strike was enough as the English side head back to England with all deserved three points.

The impressive victory from the English side away from home now extends Chelsea’s record against Swedish opposition to one defeat in nine matches so far. A win, though, was the needed expectation for the ‘Blues’ against a Malmö side who are yet to score in this Group H UEFA champions league campaign.

Ansu fati rescues Barcelona

Ansu Fati scored a crucial second-half winner for Barcelona to keep their hopes for qualification alive in the Champions League knockout stages. Having secured that victory over Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv, the Spanish giants secure first away victory in all competitions this season.

Barcelona arrived in Ukraine with the aim of securing all to three points against Dynamo Kyiv in a must win encounter for the second qualification spot in Group E. However, Barcelona created a chance in the game with an early Memphis Depay half-chance as good as it got for the Catalan giants in the first half but still failed to find the back of the net.

Instead, it was the host that grew in confidence and had better opportunities to score but failed to utilize their chances. Mykola Shaparenko wasted a huge chance in space in the area, and was only able to attempt his shot wide of the mark. Carlos De Pena had the better opening of the half, arriving late in the area to force Marc-André Ter Stegen into a superb stop to ensure the score line remain level at half time.

The Spanish side thought they've earned a penalty on the hour mark after Ansu Fati went down in the box. However, after a VAR review check, the penalty was reversed as the Spaniard had initiated contact with the Kyiv defender.

After missing out for a penalty to be rewarded, just 10 minutes later the Spanish side eventually found the breakthrough as Óscar Mingueza’s low cross was deflected into the path of Ansu Fati who rifled the ball past Georgiy Bushchan in emphatic fashion to put the visitors in front.

With that only goal of the game, Barcelona survived a late barrage to keep themselves in control of their own destiny in Group E to maintain the win, but the Spanish side still have tough task ahead of them as they will face both Bayern Munich and Benfica in their final two games of the campaign.

With the unstable form coming from the down side, If they fail to qualify for the knockout stages, it would end a 17-year run of reaching that phase and signal a new low in this disastrous era for the Spanish side.
