Cherry Bombs and Thai Birds-Eye!

in #gardening4 years ago

Hey everyone, it has been such a busy week with the birth of my child last Thursday, he is so gorgeous and I am so blessed, saying that I have not done a Pepper Post update in a while, so here it is.

I recently went down to the garden at the bottom of the yard to go and relax, grab a little sun and take some pictures!

Below we have my pretty Cherry Bomb plant. I have around 4 of these Tree's they really are magnificent and the fruit make such incredible sauce. Chilli's are one of my favourite if not most favourite plant, they are so good looking and have such a plethora of uses!

Here we have my Thai-Birds eye, interesting thing about this plant is most other peppers grow fruit facing down, Thai Birds Eye Fruit grow facing upwards, interesting gorgeous and incredibly tasty fruit too, really is an incredible plant. The seeds are a little smaller than most chilli's and the fruit too, but relative to their size do pack a nice 'punch'!

Sadly the leaves of these plants do not look the best, they get eaten would you believe? What is more crazy is what on Earth is eating them you may ask? Ants, Worms, Moths, no Freaking Mouse Birds would you believe? They first started with the chilli peppers and now they are eating the leaves, sigh. My simple strategy to mitigate this is to simply plant more, in future however I would have to probably put some netting up!

Below we have my amazing Brinjal/Aubergine/Egg-plant which is doing incredibly well. I have around 8 of these black Brinjal plants which are incredibly prolific and delicious and I eat them at least 2-3 times a week, what a blessing!

Homesteading/Gardening not much beats it and I am so blessed to be able to have such prolific gardens on the property!

Nature the incredible. I trust you have an incredible Thursday!

Cheer$;)

Sort:

This year I got a purple chilli. It's like the bird eye, but with purple veining in the leaves, purple flowers and deep purple chillis. Has a nice little kick to it like the bird eyes, too.

Have you ever managed to keep a chilli plant through winter? I'm really hoping I can keep mine long term.

Hey ye in Sunny South Africa many parts have no frost I have one olant from last year. I may cover my prize chillis this year though ;)
