Game insights

...Into interesting gems and other finds which might become your new passion and avoid what would have been a waste of time for your tastes. I was lucky to pick up Wulverblade in a fanatical bundle when I had a little of gaming money to spare. Dungeon Marathon might have had been in the same bundle. Kopanito, however, was something I bought on a sale a few years ago.

Wulverblade (Steam)

Great looking viking action in the classic style of a beat'em'up with vector graphics and gameplay tailored for a 2-players playthrough. The action gets just enough havoc to warrant a lot of fun, although there aren't that many different enemies. Bosses offer a decent challenge, so the path up to them becomes exciting, because you know your time will be worth it at the end of each level.

There's a somewhat intriguing story, too! Romans are invading, so the playable gingers are kicking them out. You shall show no mercy, even to those who once stood beside you, but have now abandoned the Nordic gods. I'm playing this with a friend online using Steam's Remote Play feature, since it otherwise doesn't offer an online multiplayer option.

Dungeon Marathon (Steam)

You've probably noticed how many ARPG players have the habit of rushing through a game's content. Dungeon Marathon kind of offers a parody on top of this, but it gets even better! The heroes you can control are under the impression these dungeons are actually gyms.

Find yourself jogging across many dungeons in what is really a graveyard, ultimately fulfilling a sinister purpose while poisoning yourself by recovering your stamina through poisoned apples. I can recommend this game because it's funny and a bit challenging, specially at the last few levels. Do it for fitness!

Kopanito All-Stars Soccer (Steam)

Old-school arcade fans will be delighted in this amazing recreation of a 2v2 retro soccer game. There are no tricks or creative ways to dodge, so you have to rely on nothing but your intuition and reflexes to win. Although going at it solo is an okay experience, four humans provide optimal gameplay. Oh, you can also play with everyone on the same team, going crazy in a 4vsCPU match!
