You probably viewing data saver mode, avatars and images won't show if you clicked on that view change icon on top right of feed. Can you check if that helped?

        And they make it really easy to point out how lame I've been the past few weeks

        Avatars were showing up but not the cover images. That's gotta be the easiest fix to date.
