Can Steem based games be game changers for Steem Platform?

Greetings Steemians!

I found Steem based games very addictive. There is a healthy number of users who play these games on daily basis. Games like steemmonsters, nextcolony and drungwars are very powerful and have many players. I think they may be game changer for this platform. What do you think?

This is mainy depending on the game developers.
Looks like Steem Monsters/Splinterlands is moving to a more business orinted direction with the upcoming changes by stating that "The majority of Splinterlands-sponsored tournaments will have an entry fee of 10 DEC". I do not like that. And probably many more people do not like that.
