jean claude van log + extension live on chrome webstore

in #decentmemes3 days ago

Running out of title ideas until I start just adding numbers/dates I guess, but thought it's cool to add what I've done today, especially since some people around here seem to barely be around anymore. Maybe it'd encourage more people to actively log about their workings.

On the scrobble.life side of things

Our extension is now available for install on Chrome Web Store!

This is the big news of today as it'll make installing it so much easier for users, where as in the past they had to jump over a few hurdles to do so.

You can find the extension here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hive-scrobbler/nmiakhpbilkpimeohngjbjickchkcpio

Currently unlisted and awaiting an update approval, but will be made public shortly after!

For Mozilla users, it's been public for some time now: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hive-scrobbler/

Would appreciate some feedback/reviews on the pages if you install it!

We had a request today to add a light/day mode to the website, surprisingly, so I went ahead and did that. Went for a warm white color I thought was fitting and then changed a few irregularities that stood out where font color remained white, etc.

Looks like this:

Users can toggle light/dark mode in the lower left corner of the website.

Some thing we may need to start tackling soon is mobile responsiveness for the website as I haven't looked into that much at all, even though react should be good with it by default, this site is quite focused towards pc browsers due to the extension being tied to it.

Fixed some issues with lyrics being behind, part of it were due to hive nodes going down.

On the decentmemes.com side of things

We did some changes today to the /submit page. Now it requires you to enter you hive account at the top instead before you submit a template and hive keychain posting op when you do submit one.

This is to prevent flooding of templates while giving everyone a chance to submit 1 per day for free, just to be a bit more careful about it rather than spraying wildly. We also don't wanna overload hive.blog/peakd image hosting too much if no one's going to ever use your templates just cause you're trying to spam to hopefully generate some passive earnings from them.

The submission is also gated to hive reputation over 60, which may be changed later.

If you wanna submit more than 1 template that day, there is now a cost of 1 hive which gets burned:

This keeps the project non-profit and adds a small buffer to the flooding we've seen recently.
Keep in mind that submissions may still be denied even if you paid for it and that there's no refund since you burn the hive before it goes through.

Anyway, that's pretty much it, if you have questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for reading and trying out and using the apps above!

I'll be continuing on unity development for a while moving forward while keeping an eye on the other projects!

Getting the scrobble extension officially on the Chrome Web Store is a massive milestone. Congratulations on that. It is definitely going to make onboarding so much smoother for new users without all those manual installation hurdles. The light mode also looks really clean and easy on the eyes.
Also, the new changes to decentmemes are a very smart move. Gating the submissions to a 60+ reputation and burning 1 HIVE for extra daily templates should definitely stop the spam and keep the image hosting from getting overloaded. Keep up the great work with these tools, and good luck diving back into your Unity project❤️❤️

Thank you for clarifying the website; it's very helpful. I'm reviewing it and learning how to use it, so please excuse me if I make any mistakes.

Didn't check, but after reading post I have a question.
Do you consider to accept not only hive for payments for templates?

not yet, it's not meant to cost at all and wasn't until now, it's just a way to prevent spam now.

Ohh I see thank you for clarification.

Ahhh who uses light mode!!

It's good to limit the meme upload, too many would spam

I use it; I have vision problems and it's very useful.meme.gif

JCVD forever! :)

I didn't realise the Firefox extension was there. I'm getting an error when trying to connect to Keychain.

thanks for the report, will look into it!

It logged in later when I was playing some music, so may not be an issue.

I think the light/dark mode toggle is a must feature for apps, web-sites etc today ;)

Cool! I'm running a bit low on inspiration right now though.

What would you like to do?

I'm currently working on a skill that collects various trending topics and breaking news, then uses it to generate creative inspiration. However, I haven't found any good data sources.

maybe the leofinance community would fit for that

it's weird you still so actively read my posts, the amount of time you've spent spamming here on this network is really odd.
