Since I am recapping my art at the end of this interesting year, I finally come to the most recent interest of mine: Pokemon.
I wasn't really the fan of it when it originally came out in the 90's, and I really just barely followed it through life. Not that I hated it, I feel like I just missed that age group when it came and I was on to stupid teenage drama.
I finally discovered it later in life and I applied it into my art-making. These things you see here are the result of digesting Pokemon into my mind and then spewing it out onto digital canvas.
Pokemon: Infinity League
This first section is about a short comic strip I created around the time of Marvel's Infinity War and Endgame. While those movies were happening, I was emmersed in alot of Pokemon content as I was watching the Sun & Moon series on Netflix, I was playing Pokemon GO regularly and Detective Pikachu was releasing around this time as well, so my mind was pretty saturated with Pokemon.
This strip all centers around my desire at the time to find an interesting way of destroying the charm on Meowth's forehead. One of the things I liked about Infinity War/Endgame was how Vision dies. I then thought that destroying Meowth's charm in the same manner was the coolest way to go.
So then I added in Team Rocket to help re-enact this scene from the Avengers.
This is the full strip!

Chris & Fry Make Fun of Pokemon
There were the times when I poked fun at Pokemon with my own characters.
This one was done some years before I REALLY got acquainted with the franchise.
This one was done after Pokemon GO came out. I used to joke that all the extras of a particular pokemon were great for grinding into candy, which we can then of course used to evolve our star players.
Pokemon Trainer Portrait
This is a portrait of a young Pokemon Trainer with her best friend.
Not Pokemon, but Nintendo!
I also took a shot at Animal Crossing too. While not Pokemon, I wanted to include it in this post as it's closely related and I saw it as potential fun with this single panel strip that tells a very intriguing story.
Not everyone appreciates Tom Nook!
Also not Pokemon, but sorta...
Yeah, so this.
Let's just say the wax concentrate was the best that day I made this.
The Still Uncompleted Santa Monica Pier Battle
I started this one earlier in the year but life just got busy and I still haven't finished it. It's actually become the funnest illustration project that I have done in a long time. I am recreating the Santa Monica Pier in the style of the Pokemon Anime Series. It's being done as a huge panoramic so that when looked at with a cropped view it has the effect of having a 360 degree view of one moment in time. It's still far from done, but I am really hoping to have it completed early into 2020. Here are some teases.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at all the pokemon-related art I've done. I really hope to finish that last one very soon. If I pull it off it should feel like a "Matrix Moment" in the world of Pokemon.
