Eating My Live Frog with Help from @metametheus and Brian Tracy

I am so fortunate to be working on a STEEM project I started last week. This challenge came from a post by @metametheus that you can read here:

Listening To The Wind

That post is past payout and the challenge is done.

But!

I am even more fortunate to see the challenge is continuing for another week with this post:

And The Wind Cried......

You should read both of those posts for details, but the general idea is to make one small change to your life and see where it takes you. In my case I have success. This week I am motivated, optimistic, and on a better track than I was before.

The change I made was:

  • start taking time each night to list my tasks for the next day and review my progress for the day I just had.

This idea came from a time management guru I found online. Brian Tracy has a lot of free help on You tube and on his site.

This week I am focusing on his idea of eating a live frog. You can get a free pdf of this idea here:

Eat That Frog

And this is a small excerpt to give you the idea:

Your live frog is your biggest, ugliest task. It’s the worst thing that you have to do. It’s the one that you’re most likely to procrastinate on. And as you know, procrastination is not only the thief of life; it’s the thief of dreams. It actually leads to failure.

Procrastination is a habit that has been learned by procrastinating and you can re-learn a new habit by overcoming procrastination and getting on with the job, which you’ll learn in the time we spend together.

There are two corollaries to the rule about eating a live frog. First is if you have to eat more than one frog, eat the ugliest one first. What this means is, do the worst first. Do the biggest, most difficult task first because that’s the one that makes most of the difference.

My Live Frog:

My frog is the @tasteem reviews I do on my fitifunfood blog. I say I do them, but I do not! I procrastinate because they are hard for me and take a lot of work.

But!

My tasteem reviews give me some of the best post payouts I get on STEEM, and I have the material to do several a week.

In a strange twist of fate:

  • @tasteem is a great place to post restaurant reviews.
  • I am actually a good restaurant reviewer (Who knew???)
  • I eat out constantly now in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Up until I few months ago:

  • I did not know about @tasteem.
  • I did not know I had a talent for restaurant reviews.
  • I was not eating out very often.

So get on with it, you say? I know! And until I started on this project last week, I was just highly bothered by my problem of procrastinating on tasteem reviews, and not doing ONE THING to solve it. Now I am on a better path.

The steps for my tasteem reviews are:

  • Go out to eat somewhere.
  • Remember to take photos of the scene, food, and menu.
  • Import photos from my phone to my laptop.
  • Sort photos into the proper files.
  • Determine which tasteem contest to enter. (5-6 contests are always ongoing on various themes)
  • Review the photos I took and get the best 10-15 of them in order and ready to process.
  • Process the appropriate photos for the post.
  • Upload the photos to busy.
  • Move the photos from busy to esteem and add text.
  • Get map info for the restaurant from google maps.
  • Open the post entry screen for tasteem.
  • Move the photos and text from esteem to tasteem.
  • Add the map info to tasteem.
  • Upload a cover photo to tasteem.
  • Add ratings info, title and tags to tasteem.
  • Post!

This list looks daunting, but I already know I can get a review done in about an hour if I already have the photos and work steadily.

Another of Brian Tracy's tips is to block out time for tasks and do nothing else - no email, no talking to others, no distractions. I know this will help me succeed.

My goal for this week:

Oct 15 - Oct 21 (6 days)
Complete and post 3+ reviews to tasteem. Three is the goal, the "+" is a bonus.

And to accomplish this feat, I will do the reviews FIRST each day. Except today, lol. But it will be next after this.

I do not have to do the first few steps for any review. I have already eaten plenty of restaurant meals and the photos for quite a few reviews are in files ready to go:

In Conclusion:

Please wish me luck and maybe you can enter too. This post from @metametheus gives you details and also links to the things some other steemers are doing for this project.

And The Wind Cried......

You will see there might be some rewards up for grabs if we participate, so please join in. I'm tagging some friends so you will know about this and might be a part of it too:

Thank you for your support to Tasteem 🧡
It is really amazing to your transformation picture, I think you are a role model and an inspiration for many out there

You are welcome, @siamcat. I am going to do better for sure. Tasteem is on the top of my list now.

And thank you for the compliment. My weight loss is the reason I got into to social media in the first place, and I wish I could help more people. They get inspired but do not take action. Weight loss coaching is very frustrating work.

Disclaimer: No frogs were harmed in the production of this STEEM post

Haha! I have eaten frogs before, but not like this :)

I thought we have to eat real frog wahahaha.. Thank you for the mention. @fitinfun

Haha! It might seem like it when you have something you do not want to do :)

Agree! Yes I enjoy steemit but sometime I forced myself to do for the sake of steem and that's it.. Good night @fitinfun

Thanks for tagging me, Sharon. I am procastinating my @tasteem reviews myself. But I love what you have written, to organize things to do the night before. That's a great idea! 👍

I have a question though. Why do you make your post first in busy and then transfer it to esteem?

The reason I do this complicated routine in 3 dapps is:

  • Busy keeps the file name so I can see it. Esteem gives a code # to the photos instead. I number my photos as I go in my laptop and give short descriptive titles I want to keep.
  • Busy uploads "better" in how it looks.
  • Busy keeps the proper photo orientation 100% of the time.
  • Busy is faster uploading then esteem.

The reason I edit in esteem instead of tasteem, is because I am faster there and more used to it. I think I could go directly to tasteem, but I am set in my ways, lol.

I hope you will join this challenge, @gingbabida. maybe we will both do better with this help :)

I will read about the challenge tomorrow. But for now, I need to sleep cause it's already modnight here. Hahaha! 😂

Great idea. Thanks for tagging me.

Note to self:

First review of the week - Done!

https://steempeak.com/tasteem/@fitinfunfood/tasteem-8d77bc

It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes. I got distracted looking up how to cook this on yt and in blog posts. There is NO CHANCE I will ever make this myself!

I eat my frog every morning as getting started is the hardest part of the day for me. I have also been procrastinating on tasteem reviews mostly because I write for a living and only write what I purely enjoy on steem.

Maybe if I start treating this like a job it will start paying like one huh?

Hahahaha!!!! You got it, @metzli! I think these reviews are a key to success and really want to do better.

The idea of doing the list at night and going over the day before sleep, is because this is supposed to work on our sub-conscious mind while we sleep. AND you have your task list ready to go when you start the day, so you can just get to it.

BTW - Brain Tracy is headquartered in Banker's Hill for an SD connection maybe.

I 💕💕💕 that you are running with this idea and cultivating it so it works for you! That is the difference that makes the difference.

Thanks for the shout-out too 🙏🏽💚

I read that post. I slowly change it is useless for me to invest so much time in Steemit. The thing is most of the time I do not come to writing at all or before I go to bed. So in the afternoon is fine too.

I wish you luck! 👍🔆💕

You get pretty good upvotes at times. Maybe look at those posts to see what is a hit and stop doing the ones that do not get good payouts. It's a lot of work no matter what, @wakeupkitty.

There is no line in it plus I did not come here to write about all kinds of... I came to write tales and keep them safe. What I see and find is all kind of bullshit here not really interesting if it comes to reading or only for one second.

The better earnings are from upvote bank, council, what earns the best is a photo via @appics or if you join certain contests and that community gives you an upvote. I do not live between the big fish not have their attention.

My tips even get downvotes. So it is not appreciated to help out Steemians. It is simple. I will not invest more of my income in Steemit, I did and see it as a lost of money and not wise.
I will take it back now.
I try to join a contest with each post or more as one. If I do not earn enough I quit with the contests.
This week I do not even earn enough to payout.

I want to invest more time elsewhere. There is a Dutch site paying better I just need a good connection and if be able to post more like one post at a time. At that site, I earn forever not only 7 days and I earn with views too.

I'm still stuck on STEEM. I am getting better payouts, and now the tipu thing is helping me. If I manage to get myself to STEEMFest, hopefully that will help too.

Did you see we have a new published author from freewrite, @wakeupkitty? I'm trying to think how I can do the same. More books equals more money on Amazon for sure.

Yes I noticed. I tried to order the book but amazing said it is not available.

Be brutal and publish, no matter about which subject. You can keep a diary for a month and publish that. Steem, prompt plus your life abroad. Diaries sell.

Thanks for the tagging me. Now I am here. And thanks for sharing your to do list. I don't know that you can separately upload photos to busy (or other website) to for your review on tasteem. It makes the job easier. The editor box in tasteem is a little too small for me.

Exactly, @putu300. i use busy to upload a lot of media. I just find it easier and don't have to learn other places. And yes, tasteem is small for my bad eyes. It is easier for my to use esteem for the side by side editing and then copy it over. Then I only need to upload the cover photo. Best of luck with it :)
