I am so fortunate to be working on a STEEM project I started last week. This challenge came from a post by @metametheus that you can read here:
That post is past payout and the challenge is done.
But!
I am even more fortunate to see the challenge is continuing for another week with this post:
You should read both of those posts for details, but the general idea is to make one small change to your life and see where it takes you. In my case I have success. This week I am motivated, optimistic, and on a better track than I was before.
The change I made was:
- start taking time each night to list my tasks for the next day and review my progress for the day I just had.
This idea came from a time management guru I found online. Brian Tracy has a lot of free help on You tube and on his site.
This week I am focusing on his idea of eating a live frog. You can get a free pdf of this idea here:
And this is a small excerpt to give you the idea:
Your live frog is your biggest, ugliest task. It’s the worst thing that you have to do. It’s the one that you’re most likely to procrastinate on. And as you know, procrastination is not only the thief of life; it’s the thief of dreams. It actually leads to failure.
Procrastination is a habit that has been learned by procrastinating and you can re-learn a new habit by overcoming procrastination and getting on with the job, which you’ll learn in the time we spend together.
There are two corollaries to the rule about eating a live frog. First is if you have to eat more than one frog, eat the ugliest one first. What this means is, do the worst first. Do the biggest, most difficult task first because that’s the one that makes most of the difference.
My Live Frog:
My frog is the @tasteem reviews I do on my fitifunfood blog. I say I do them, but I do not! I procrastinate because they are hard for me and take a lot of work.
But!
My tasteem reviews give me some of the best post payouts I get on STEEM, and I have the material to do several a week.
In a strange twist of fate:
- @tasteem is a great place to post restaurant reviews.
- I am actually a good restaurant reviewer (Who knew???)
- I eat out constantly now in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Up until I few months ago:
- I did not know about @tasteem.
- I did not know I had a talent for restaurant reviews.
- I was not eating out very often.
So get on with it, you say? I know! And until I started on this project last week, I was just highly bothered by my problem of procrastinating on tasteem reviews, and not doing ONE THING to solve it. Now I am on a better path.
The steps for my tasteem reviews are:
- Go out to eat somewhere.
- Remember to take photos of the scene, food, and menu.
- Import photos from my phone to my laptop.
- Sort photos into the proper files.
- Determine which tasteem contest to enter. (5-6 contests are always ongoing on various themes)
- Review the photos I took and get the best 10-15 of them in order and ready to process.
- Process the appropriate photos for the post.
- Upload the photos to busy.
- Move the photos from busy to esteem and add text.
- Get map info for the restaurant from google maps.
- Open the post entry screen for tasteem.
- Move the photos and text from esteem to tasteem.
- Add the map info to tasteem.
- Upload a cover photo to tasteem.
- Add ratings info, title and tags to tasteem.
- Post!
This list looks daunting, but I already know I can get a review done in about an hour if I already have the photos and work steadily.
Another of Brian Tracy's tips is to block out time for tasks and do nothing else - no email, no talking to others, no distractions. I know this will help me succeed.
My goal for this week:
Oct 15 - Oct 21 (6 days)
Complete and post 3+ reviews to tasteem. Three is the goal, the "+" is a bonus.
And to accomplish this feat, I will do the reviews FIRST each day. Except today, lol. But it will be next after this.
I do not have to do the first few steps for any review. I have already eaten plenty of restaurant meals and the photos for quite a few reviews are in files ready to go:
In Conclusion:
Please wish me luck and maybe you can enter too. This post from @metametheus gives you details and also links to the things some other steemers are doing for this project.
You will see there might be some rewards up for grabs if we participate, so please join in. I'm tagging some friends so you will know about this and might be a part of it too:

I used my HMNOTE 1LTE mobile phone for the cover photo on this post. It is the entrance to one of the restaurants I need to review :)
