Last night, I had a video call with my Jintan (my Japanese friend). Well, we just tried to catch up with each other since we haven't talked for a while. And as usual, part of our conversation is about anime.
We were talking about the anime we want to have the next season and we both agreed that we really want to watch Yowamushi Pedal again. YowaPeda is a sports anime, specifically a cycling anime. I told him that I have read an article about an upcoming live action version of the said anime. We were both in two minds about it. Well, we're not really fans of live action films.
We both wondered who would play several characters especially Midousuji and Makishima. They're both eccentric in their own way. Despite that, I so love Makishima and he is in fact my favorite character from YowaPeda. Having this conversation with Jintan made me miss Maki-chan, so I decided to make a fan art.
I drew it digitally, so I hope you like it. I'm going to show some screenshots of the process as well.
Isn't he a beauty? Yep, Maki-chan is a guy but I so love his wavy green hair. Ahh.. I really miss watching YowaPeda, though I won't be seeing Maki-chan a lot in the next season as he already graduated. T_T Anyway, let's get to the process.
I used my drawing tablet and Paint Tool SAI in creating it. As usual, I started with the eyes, facial features and then the lineart.
After which, I colored it. Base colors first, shadow then highlights. It's fun to see how my art is slowly changing. I feel quite satisfied.
If in the past I settle for the base colors, it's completely different now. Actually, I tried to observe how characters are colored whenever I watch anime. Well, I don't know in detail as to how they make it, but I tried to make my own version of it. It's fun!
Since the drawing occupied most of the space, I decided not to put any background color and just attached my username and signature on it.
And lastly, I created this gif of the screenshots. It's so cute to look at every time I hope you enjoy it as well.
