[ANIME: HAIKYUU!] Karasuno Appreciation Post Part 1/4: Meet The Third Years!

in #anime4 years ago

What's up Otaku!!? Harumi/Shei here.
I want to be active here especially in writing something anime-related. So, I'll start with this.

As the title suggest, I will talking about some characters from one of my favorite anime which is Haikyuu!. It's a sports anime particularly a volleyball anime. I don't play volleyball, though I have tried playing it when I was young, but I really enjoyed this anime... so yeah.

Of course, I will start with the main team which is called Karasuno. I am dividing this post into four different parts: the third years, the second years, the first years and the managers and coaches.

In the coming days, I might write more about the other teams and some important players or characters. I just love Haikyuu! so much that I have watched it multiple times. I just finished re-watching (AGAIN!) from the first season until the fourth season a few days ago. So yeah, let's start!

Meet the SENPAI(s)

Technically, there are four third years in the team if we include Shimizu (the manager) in it, however, I wanted to create a separate post for the managers and coaches, so I'll be focusing on these three.

SAWAMURA DAICHI

Sawamura Daichi is the team captain and is the most reliable member of Karasuno. I personally consider him as the father of the whole team. He is very calm and well-composed. And he can definitely discipline all the other members very well. The idiotic first years and second years are afraid of him whenever he's angry. One look, and they'd behave. lol

During their games, he is also very reliable especially in receiving. He's so great at it that he can even cleanly receive some of the most difficult spikes and serves. Aside from that, he does pretty well as a wing spiker. He encourages the team and keep them sane. His words can absolutely calm someone down and also rile someone up when necessary.

SUGAWARA KOCHI

If Daichi is the father of Karasuno, then Sugawara is the mother. Most fans call him SugaMAMA because he cares for his teammates just like a mother cares for her children. He is also the only person who can yell at Daichi whenever he's not making sense. Everyone respects him although he can also be very tactless and immature at times.

Sugawara is a setter. However, when Kageyama came, he lost his chance to be the starting setter for the team. Despite that, he tried to help the team and fight in his own way. I love how he serve because he has really good ball control. Some rivals call him Mr. Refreshing because he's so calm, but can be subtly annoying due to his precision.

I also love it when he and Kageyama plays together as double setter. It's so confusing for the rival teams yet very exciting for the audience. SugaMAMA is LOVE.

AZUMANE ASAHI

Despite his menacing look, Asahi is such a big cinnamon roll! He's so soft-hearted and somehow awkward. A lot of people tend to be scared of him due to his outward appearance, but those who knows him can definitely see the gap.

As a wing spiker, he's considered the ace of Karasuno. He has once left the team because of a certain game they lost, but he was able to overcome it with the help of his teammates. From then on, he tried to face everything head on despite feeling the nerves.

He's also one of the strong server of Karasuno. After observing other teams during their training camp, he practiced and mastered his jump serve which in itself is considered a weapon for the team's victory.

WARNING: Manga SPOILER

After the Nationals, there's a timeskip in Haikyuu!. In one of the games those who continued playing volleyball fought, these three senpais remained close to each other.

Daichi is now working as a policeman. I really think it suits him because even as a captain, he did great in disciplining the whole team. Sugawara became a teacher. He's very caring, so I believe it's a great path for him as well. As for Asahi, he is now working in the fashion industry. It's quite surprising, but when I watched the first season again recently, I believe there was already a hint that he likes fashion. :) But still, that gap, though. haha

I truly love these senpai(s) and I couldn't help but admire them. Without them, Karasuno wouldn't be as it is. Thank you senpai(s)!

I'll end my post here. I'll be introducing the second years in my next post. Until then. Jaa ne~!
