Before saying anything I need to apologize for the Title.

If you like Ryan reynolds, my personal answer to the title is "Yes he can". Actually I consider him as my favorite actor since now more than 10 years (before green laanter, discovering him here could have totally change the game)

I discovered him in the movie "National Lampoon's Van Wilder", and t seem that I was probably around 11-12 years old at this moment, in 2010-2011.

Before him my favorite actor was Seann William Scott Probably for his role of Stifler in American Pies. No need to say that my movie taste were not supported at all by my parents.

Even before I discovered him, he played several times in movies that could bring him to a bigger career. Starting with Blade Trinity (2004) Which is a nightmare to watch, and as in a lot of these movies, the best part of it is Ryan Reynolds with his humor, Amityville (2005) which is also a mess, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), this time the movie was not that bad but the character, a half deadpool, was terrible.
Green lantern, RIPD: Rest In Peace Department (2013),this one is probably the best of the list, it is just a average little blockbuster. The voices and The Woman in Gold (2014-2015) are two more artistic movies and probablt had a better effect to get some more popularity. And there comes :

I saw it in theatre and, compared to the others that was probably the only one I was not hyped at all. While Wolverine or other superhero movies were really atractive for the young me, this one only had Ryan Reynolds, which was a reason to go see it.

Not only I was pleasantely surprised of the movie, I was also but it also become one of my favorite Ryan Reynolds' movies.

An old Ultra rich, making each years Billions is going to die. He doesn't want to finish like that, alone and wasting is whole legacy and take advantage of a dark organisation that wants to turn him into Ryan Reynolds. Or at least into a yonger body. And he gives it a try. When he relises that this organisation is creepy, he decides to, basically kill them all, especially their boss.

(I'm realizing that this looks a lot like Deadpool)

I don't remember if I watched it after that. But what I know is that my girlfriend's father said I hated it because it was just a movie with gunfights. When I saw it on netflix two days ago, I decided to watch it again !

I thinks I know what can make you love it or not. If you're waiting to see an artistic film with some reflexion, you will probably don't like it because there is indeed a lot of gunfights/ But if you are looking for a blockbuster, the movie is way more than that. It's not showing and telling you how the story is going. It's showing you some clues to make you understand alone what the following will be.

The movie shows at first an ultra rich who changes his life and realize that he was an asshole and his passed acts were making bad consequences on others' lives. Sacrificing lives and destroying families only for his own comfort and wealth. The story show how he need to be in front of what he did to realize that it's terrible and starts to fight people like who he was.

There are some things to Highlight

While the character is supposed to be Ben Kingsley into the Ryan Reynods' body, he really acts like most of usual Ryan Reynolds characters but sweeter. That is still a behaviour we can't really imagine with Ben Kingsley.

I really Don't like that Haircut.

The movie is interesting in a point. It shows how we could go to a Cyberpunk Future. Switching the mind in another body is something we can often see in Science Fiction. This is in the core of Altered Carbon and is also the center of Cyberpunk 2077's story.

Here they show through the movie that this can only happen with capitalism. This will comme as a New high-tech technology only for the wealthiest persons in the world at a terrible cost, if you want a body, you first have to take out what's already living inside.

The antagonist of the movie says a very dramatic sentence :

"Every medical advance has a cost."

And here, each person pay with what they have. Their money for some, their bodies for others.
