Continuing our small new series of the American Half Dollars Commemoratives, we will today present the "1935/34 Boone".
As all the commemorative half dollars, it weights 12,5g with a 90% silver purity.
It commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Daniel Boone, a famous frontierman, trapper and explorer.
In spite of that the bicentennial would only be commemorated on 1934, these coins were minted since 1934 to 1938.
In 1935 it was also minted this variety, showing the small 1934 on the reverse.
NGC graded 1355 mint state 1935/34 Boone, with 564 MS-65 and 330 graded above.
A total of 10,000 1935/34 coins were distributed. Today's price is around U$200.00 in this grade.
The obverse shows the bust of a young man, said to represent Boone, as there is no original portrait of the pioneer.
The reverse shows Shawnee Chief Black Fish standing with Daniel Boone, who held in one hand a Peace Treaty and in the other a musket.
