Reduce, re-use, recycle.

Cutting back on waste is brilliant.

One of the parts of my old job that i really got annoyed with was the waste. That and the customers but there was nothing that i could do to reduce how annoying they were so waste was a bigger focus.

There is always going to be waste in any industry but there is so much of it that is avoidable.

All of the food and products that were thrown out on a daily basis that didn't need to be and all of the stock that could have been given to those in need that wasn't.

Simple changes in behavior that would have made a huge difference over time.

Small changes might seem like they do nothing but if we can all make those changes across society it makes a huge difference to the cause.

I Love buying second hand products.

This might be shocking to some sections of society where new and shiny is everything and it's all about the show but that's not the people here.

Buying from charity shops or from second hand sales sites is the best way to pick up the products that you need.

If I want to buy something for the garden or a short term solution then there are lots of them for sale online.

So many sites to choose from and great bargains to be had.

I've often gone into a charity shop and found hidden gems or books that i haven't seen in years.

It's a great place to browse and to pick up bits for the house.

I could buy everything new but I much prefer to do it this way.

  • Cheaper to buy.
  • Lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
  • Save products from the bin.
  • Money goes to a good cause.
  • Find interesting and rare products.
  • Keeps my monthly expenditure to a minimum.

For these reasons and more.

The planet is only going one way right now and all of these small steps help me and the environment.

It's a win win and lets me live the lifestyle that i want instead of slaving away to keep up with the neighbors.

Sustainable is better than buy and throw away.

I love browsing around in those places. I don't often find things that fit me well but always cool stuff. Sometimes you get lucky and find some jewelry with some sterling silver in it but the employees usually grab anything good that was donated nowadays.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with buying second hand product as most of them aren't even as bad as you'd think, it's also an effective way to save cash.
You never can tell what you'd even find when you don't even go looking for something nice.

While on the topic of win-win buying decisions, buying quality products is also something that can have a big impact over time.
I would rather buy a $30 t-shirt that I can use 100 times at it still looks decent than buying $5 t-shirts from Primark or (inset garbage brand here) that are completely trashed after 10 uses.

If I have time, I visit those places but I tend to just go online and buy what I need (usually it's new stuff). However, things will wear out over time so it depends on the product.
