Psalm 81: 1-5
1 Sing for joy to God our strength;
shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel,
play the melodious harp and lyre.
3 Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,
and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
4 this is a decree for Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 When God went out against Egypt,
he established it as a statute for Joseph.

Dear friends
The feasts of Israel reminded the nation of the great miracles of God. It was a time of rejoicing and a time to renew strength for the daily struggles of life.
Making an evaluation for our times. For the holidays do most of your thoughts revolve around the gifts? Is Easter just an auspicious date for a holiday and Thanksgiving dinner for a good meal?
We have to remember the spiritual origins of those special days as they are opportunities to worship God for the kindness that he shows us, our family and his nation.
David instituted music in the temple worship services (1 Chronicles 25). Music and worship go hand in hand. Worship involves the person as a whole, and music helps raise their thoughts and emotions towards God. Through music we reflect on our needs and failures, as well as praise the greatness of God.
God allowed the Israelites to remain blind, foolish and selfish, when they were to be obedient and to fulfill God's wishes. Sometimes He allows us to continue astray so that we can then return on the right path. It does not prevent us from rebelling because it wants us to learn from the consequences of sin. God uses these experiences to keep people from falling into greater sins and having faith in Him.
God stipulated in his covenant that He would restore his people if they would listen to him and turn to Him (Exodus 23:22-27, Leviticus 26:3-13,Deuteronomy 7:12-26, Deuteronomy 28:1-14).

In order to have the same feelings as Christ, let us direct our songs and prayers to the Father whose mercy is eternal.
Pray for the families and communities that see their unity threatened because of jealousy, envy and rivalry.
For all of us who have heard the Word of Life so that our insistency and indecision do not prevent us from always recognizing the voice of God. We ask for it in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
